Carpooling to and from school can have a great effect on reducing neighborhood traffic.  Plus, sharing before/after-school responsibilities is a great way to build community.  If you are interested in joining our Carpool network, please see the information below.

By knowing the roads you’ll take, following some simple rules and demonstrating Westlake’s Core Values, you’ll help keep traffic moving and our community safe.

Know the Roads

1. Drive on the Green Roads and allow pedestrians to safely use the residential streets.

2. Be aware that the Yellow Roads might get congested at peak travel times.

3. Please do not drive on the Red Roads.  These roads are smaller, neighborhood streets, and are intended to be used by our walking and biking students.

Know the Rules

In addition to the Driving Rules while heading to campus, when carpooling to campus please follow these three rules:

1. In the coming weeks you’ll be able to sign up to express your interest in carpooling using a form.  The form will ask for information such as your name, email and phone number and neighborhood so other interested parties can contact you.

2. Once the school receives your form submission, we will validate your email address against the email addresses listed in Infinite Campus, and send you a link to a spreadsheet that will contain other interested parties.  Only families with verified emails from Infinite Campus will be sent access to the Carpool sheet.

3. Families who have access to the Carpool network are free to contact one another to self-facilitate their carpool options.  If you need to update your information on the Carpool network spreadsheet, please contact [email protected]

Know the Rules

In addition to the general Driving Rules to follow while heading from campus, when carpooling from campus please follow these three rules:

1. Students can be picked up from the school parking lot. Westlake has learned quite a bit over these past few years on how to load students quickly and safely. We will do our best to keep the line moving, and ask for your help in following these rules.

2. Parents may park on almost any Green Road, meet their student and fellow-carpool students on campus, and walk them back to the car. Please do not park near the entrance of the school’s parking lot while picking up your student, as that may impede other parents from queueing up in the pick-up line. Parents who wish to drive, park and pick-up their group students can reunite with their students on the back of the campus, near the basketball courts.

3. Families and Carpool participants who elect to have their group of students participate in the daily after-school walking school bus can reunite with their student at Burberry Park approximately 20 minutes after the bell rings. If your carpool would like to participate in the after-school Walking School bus, all parents must authorize their students to leave campus in this manner and meet their Carpool ride at Burberry Park.
