Great Kindness Challenge: During the week of January 27th through January 31st, Westlake Charter School students will be joining students all over the country and the world by participating in the Great Kindness Challenge. When we are all kind, we build strength in ourselves and in our communities. One of the ways the students can show kindness in their community is to donate canned or dry food goods to Joey’s Food Locker. Joey’s Food Locker provides local residents with canned or dried foods, while volunteer-students develop skills needed to join the workforce.
- Donation bins will be located in the front office and in both BASE rooms, B109 and D110, from January 27th through January 31st.
Club Sign-ups: Our winter session of AS Live Clubs starts Monday, February 3! Click HERE to see what clubs are being offered (hint: art, baking, dance, coding, cheer, and more!) and to put your student on the sign-up list by Thursday, January 30th @ 8:30AM. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
GATE Testing: The goal of the Westlake Charter School’s GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) Program is to provide differentiated learning opportunities during the regular school day for our students. All current 2nd graders and referred 3rd-8th graders will be given the opportunity to take the GATE qualification test.
- Referral forms for students currently enrolled in grades 3rd-8th will be accepted from January 6, 2020 – January 31, 2020. Click HERE for the parent referral form. Previously identified students for GATE do not need to go through the process again.

Spirit Day: Rainbow Day is Friday, January 31st. Students and staff can wear their most colorful outfits and show off the colors of the rainbow! Please be sure to follow the spirt day dress code policy.

Kudos: Every week a large group of people work to make sure families get all of the information they need regarding what has been going on and what is coming up at Westlake Charter School. Administration and WAVE put together the Weekly newsletter, teachers work together to complete their classroom updates, a podcast is recorded, important information is posted to Facebook, flyers are printed then distributed and so much more. Thank you to everyone involved for making sure families have access to the information they need and always know where to go to find out what exciting things are happening this week at Westlake Charter School.
