Celebrations:

When #WestlakeCharter innovators said, “Hey, let’s put on a STEAM day (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), it will be fun,” it launched a chain reaction of planning that resulted in SO much fun for everyone. This week, hundreds of students have been exposed to the art of coding and the power of 21st Century Learning opportunities. Thank you, Tech Team, for you willingness to lead such an amazing opportunity for our students and staff! Let’s Explore! STEAM
Pioneer Pioneer Day  was a great success!  Students practiced washing clothes on a washboard.  They made corn husks dolls. Mostly they got to experience what life was like during a time period they had only just read about!  Way to go 4th grade team and 4th grade parents!
What happens when you ask 1st graders to get a group of gnomes from their village to town?  They work in groups and bridges, hot air balloons, and trampolines that can get the job done! engineer
rocket Middle School students made rockets in their Engineering elective this week.  Students were energized to see their work in action.  Way to go, Explorers, using your inquisitive minds and perseverance to make your bottle rockets!
Middle school students in their elective class participated in the challenge, “Protect your melon.” Watermelons were dropped and you met your challenge if your watermelon was protected and didn’t break open! Students exhibited creativity and collaboration as they participated in this challenge!  challenge
glee Rivercats Glee EB Click HERE to watch the video.  The Westlake Charter School Glee Club did an amazing job opening the River Cats Game this Sunday with the National Anthem!
Our parents are absolutely amazing! They organized and executed a wonderful evening for our 8th grade students and their parents.  Caroline Gaea, Sarah Gately, and Amber Sutton worked closely with families to make this such a special night.  Families were well fed and memories were made! #Gratitude  dinner2 dinner1
