rollercoaster In Mrs. Sutton’s 8th-grade science class, students are deep in a PBL unit, “Marble Roller Coasters”.  Students are working in teams to design and create a roller coaster track for a marble.  Students are getting hands-on experience with standards covering speed and acceleration.
The air in the cafeteria was buzzing with words this past Tuesday as the WCS super spellers took the stage to spell words that most of the audience had never heard. Great job, WCS spellers! Congratulations to our School Winner, Talhah Bhuiyan, on his way to the County Bee. Bee
eulogy In 8th-grade History class this week, students were asked to answer this essential question: “To what extent should the president have been involved in world affairs?” Students were tasked with writing eulogies that represented the first five presidents of our great nation and their foreign policies. By citing historical facts about the president’s personal background, answering the essential question, and then backing up their feelings on foreign policy with a quote by each president, students were able to articulate and fully understand how each president handled foreign affairs in a young nation. Their eulogies were humorous, entertaining, informative and more importantly, a learning tool.
Our PE program is more than running the mile! Our students are researching and producing projects in true Explorer style! 6th-grade students are studying health topics like the benefits of aerobic activity and building Google slides to display their learning! PE
