K-12 Movie Night hosted by WAVE at our Mabry campus was a blast! Students and their families came with pillows, blankets, and in their cozy clothes watched Mario Brothers in our gym!

Holidays Around the World is a wonderful tradition at our K-8 campus in which older and younger Explorers come together to learn about different holidays celebrated around the globe! Students created arts and crafts, read books, played games, and more to learn about the many festivities!

Future Permanent High School Campus Public Meetings: In a recent Natomas Unified School District survey, the Westlake Charter School community expressed great interest in building a permanent high school facility. To make this vision a reality, we will need high levels of parent involvement. This is where you come in: Save the date for one of the upcoming NUSD public meetings regarding Facilities Master Planning. CLICK HERE for more information. 

Winter Break: Both campuses and BASE will be closed for Winter Break Friday, December 22nd through Monday, January 8th. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, January 9th. BASE will be open on January 8th. 

Family Survey: The Family Survey is taken three times a year. CLICK HERE to answer six questions to rate your family’s experience at Westlake Charter School during the 2023-24 school year. The deadline is Tuesday, January 9th, 2024.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: On Monday, January 15th Westlake Charter School will be observing Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  There will be no school and our BASE program will be closed. 

K-12 Talent Show Sign-Ups – Due Tuesday, January 23rd: CLICK HERE to sign up to audition to be a host, perform a talent, or be part of the stage crew team! Audition sign ups are due  Tuesday, January 23, 2024.

GATE Testing:  The goal of Westlake Charter School’s GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) program is to provide differentiated learning opportunities during the regular school day for our students.  All current 2nd graders and referred 3rd-11th graders will be given the opportunity to take the GATE qualification test.  Parent referral forms for students currently enrolled in grades 3rd-11th will be accepted until  January 26, 2024 at 4:00 PM. K-8 Announcements

Spelling Bee:  Our school Spelling Bee will be held on Tuesday, January 23rd @ 5:30 PM.

K-5 Family Dance: Join us for our Inaugural K-5 Family Dance entitled “Enchanted Evening” held on February 3rd at 5:30 PM. Tickets are limited and will go on sale January 9th.

“Here for the Hot Cocoa!” Attendance Challenge: And the winners are… First and Eighth Grade!  The First and Eighth Grade classes will receive a Hot Cocoa Party after Winter Break!!

Volleyball Interest 6-8 students: Our 6-8 volleyball season will start the week of January 22. Teams are co-ed and open to all ability levels. CLICK HERE to sign your middle schooler up to play. Report Card Timeline: The end of the semester was Thursday, December 21st. Report cards will be mailed home on January 12th.

“Here for the Hot Cocoa!” Attendance Challenge: And the winner is…Eleventh Grade! The junior class of 2025 will receive a Hot Cocoa Party after Winter Break!!

New Schedule and Class Change/Honors Enrollment: The form to request a class change will be available in Otus and can be submitted by students January 9th – January 23rd.

Volunteer: Want to get involved? Westlake provides many different opportunities to spend time and contribute to your students’ school life. Would you like to volunteer in the classroom assisting your child’s teacher with in class or home projects, or volunteer with our fun parent community to plan and host events?  CLICK HERE to see the many opportunities to get involved!

Logging Volunteer Hours: We are at 5% of our total parent volunteer hours logged. Please remember to log your volunteer hours!  You can CLICK HERE to log your hours, or you can navigate from www.westlakecharter.com by hovering over the WAVE tab, then clicking on “Volunteer” and scrolling to the bottom of the page to enter your family’s volunteer hours.
