Our WCHS Astronomy students learned to protect precious cargo when reentering Earth's Atmosphere. They learned about ablative shields and created their own shields that could withstand direct flames for 5 minutes. Most “Eggstronauts” survived. Way to go Ms. Stamas on creating this joyful learning experience for our WCHS students!

Spelling Bee:  It’s time for the annual Spelling Bee! Over the next three weeks, teachers will be hosting classroom Spelling Bees. Families of class winners will be notified before we head off to Winter Break. Our school Spelling Bee will be held on Tuesday, January 23rd @ 5:30 PM.

“Here for the Hot Cocoa!” Attendance Challenge: Families, we hope that you are having a wonderful break with your student. As we come back from Thanksgiving break, we enter a period of time where, historically, attendance declines. For our K-8 students, this is the very beginning of the 2nd Trimester of learning.  It is so important that your student is in school if they are healthy. Missing school can negatively impact a student’s academic and social-emotional performance.  It can also impact students’ ability to graduate on time from High School.

For the month of December, we will be celebrating grade levels who have positive attendance.  With “Here for the Hot Cocoa!”,  grade levels that have the highest average of students in attendance each day from 11/27-12/21 will get to participate in a Hot Cocoa party on our last day before Winter Break.

9-12 Announcements

End of the Semester: The high school semester will end on December 21st.  Please remember, if a student finishes the semester with an IE (insufficient evidence) they will not receive credit for that course.  Students can take advantage of resources like Flex Blocks and the Learning Lab at lunch and after school for additional support to finish the semester strong.
