For families who live farther away from campus and want to save time on driving their student to campus, using Public Transportation can be a great option. Locally, Regional Transit (RT), SmaRT and JIBE can be used as public transportation options.
Know the Roads
1. The SmaRT program can run very close to campus, and is easy to use. More information on this program can be found here, while the service area can be found here. In some cases, ridership may be free – Sac RT has additional details here.
2. Regional Transit’s Line 11 offers a great alternative to driving to campus. RT busses stop within a short walking distance to school.
3. After taking Regional Transit or similar services to your drop-off point, please be familiar with the walking routes to school.
Know the Rules
1. Please respect and follow all public transportation rules while using public transportation services.
2. When taking public transportation to school, make sure you leave enough time between your designated drop-off spot and the time it takes to walk/bike/skate to school!
3. For all public transportation users who make their way to campus, we ask that you demonstrate safe walking/biking/skating habits at all times.
