Olympic Triathlon: The 16th Annual Westlake Charter School Olympic Triathlon is under way! This is not only our biggest fundraiser of the year, but an event to showcase what makes our school unique. We raise funds to celebrate and support our Enriched Educational Opportunities which includes specialities at our K-8, athletics, clubs, and activities. Ask your student what they love about these incredible opportunities at Westlake and proudly reach out to family, friends, and community members for support.

Attendance: Being at School every day has many positive impacts on your student(s) and their success in school. Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school—and themselves. Start building this early in elementary school so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Eventually, good attendance will be a skill that will help them succeed in high school and college.

If you are having trouble with getting your student to school each day, we want to support you. Please contact your student’s principal and they will gladly set up a time to collaborate with you.

K-8 Announcements

Enrichment Sign-ups: Our fall Explorer Enrichment programs are starting soon! CLICK HERE to see the catalog of course offerings and information about how to sign up. Email [email protected] with scholarship inquiries. 

Middle School Explorer Athletics: HOOPS are here! All 6th, 7th, and 8th Explorers are invited to come play basketball! The season starts the week of September 5th. Athlete packets, including a doctor’s physical clearance, are required for participation.

WCHS Back to School Night:  We can’t wait to see you for our WCHS Back to School Night on Wednesday, August 30th!  The schedule for the evening is as follows:

• Food trucks and OASIS open at 5:00 PM:  We are so excited to offer the following food trucks for Back to School Night at WCHS: WingMan, Bubble Cone, Cali Ice, Smoothie Patrol, and Sac Republic Taco.
• Informational Gathering in the Commons at 5:30 PM: Come learn more about our student activities and sports, talk to our counseling department, ask technology questions, pick up your student’s schedule for the night, and more during this time.
• Classroom Presentations from 6:00 – 7:30 PM: Rotate through your student’s schedule and learn more about their classes during this time.

Homecoming Dance  and Guest Passes: Get ready for Westlake Charter High School’s annual homecoming celebration.  Homecoming week will take place from September 18th-23rd. This year’s celebrations will consist of daily dress-up days, a Friday rally, and our homecoming dance on Saturday, September 23rd.  Note these upcoming dates:

• September 5th – 14th: Guest Pass applications accepted
• September 11th – 21st: Homecoming Dance ticket sales

Otus Family Accounts: On Friday, your Explorer received information on how to set up your Otus Family Account.  Logging in to Otus will allow you to monitor academic progress through the gradebook.  If you have any questions or need support setting up your Otus account reach out to [email protected].

Upcoming Events:

• August 29th: Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream Restaurant Fundraiser – Get your taste buds ready for a treat! Handel’s Ice cream is helping to support our school by donating a portion of purchases from our families. Show up at 2820 Del Paso Rd suite 600 between 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM and mention Westlake Charter to help support our school!
• September 15th: Bingo Night – Add bingo night to your calendar! This is a free community event for our families. Come join us for bingo, some snacks, and fun for the whole family!
• September 29th: Olympic Triathlon – Our explorers will participate in a fun day of activities highlighting our amazing specialty classes: Spanish, Art, and P.E. This event is completely staffed and planned by our parent volunteers and supported by our amazing staff. We need your help to make sure this event is successful. • October  21st: Fall Festival – We’re looking for families to help plan our 2023 Fall Festival. If you’re interested in joining the planning committee, join our meetings or please  reach out to Toni Elgamiel at [email protected].

• Wednesday, September 6th at 6:00 PM – WAVE Board Meeting in the K-8 Library
• Thursday, September 28th at 8:30 AM – Coffee Talk with admin in the OASIS on our HS campus. We hope to see you there!
