Celebrations
Our second grade Explorers recently welcomed grandparents to campus for a special day of connection and learning! Together, they explored what life was like in the past, celebrating family heritage, culture, traditions, and personal stories. The students greeted their guests with open arms, beautifully rehearsed songs, and eagerly asked questions about childhood in years gone by.
Heaps of appreciation go out to each and every student, family and community member for participating in our 18th Annual Olympic Triathlon event day and month-long fundraising campaign! Having volunteers on campus to help run the Obstacle Courses, Art Projects and Spanish Games at both campuses as well as all of the work put in behind the scenes to prepare for the event and our one, annual fundraiser was incredibly joyful and made it all possible and such a success!
At WCHS, our Social Science and English teachers have been thoughtfully facilitating Socratic Seminars. Through careful planning and skilled facilitation, they’re creating spaces where students can engage deeply, think critically, and share their ideas with confidence. Their dedication to fostering meaningful discussion is making a powerful impact on our students’ learning and growth!

Attendance Campaign Update: We are excited to launch a new digital communication campaign this year to engage, educate, and celebrate attendance with your family!
Our goal is to build a strong culture of achievement, starting with the habit of showing up. Regular attendance helps students succeed academically and socially. Throughout the year, we’ll connect in various ways:
- Recognizing students with 95% or higher attendance
- Notifying families when absences are higher than the average
- Celebrating attendance improvements
- Identifying when students may benefit from additional support
Please be on the lookout for our emails and texts—these messages are meant to support you. We will be sharing helpful, positive information so our children can thrive. We believe that together, we can strengthen our partnership and ensure all of our students have the opportunity to succeed.
We look forward to celebrating our achievements together!

Kudos: A huge thank you to the dozens of families who showed up to support WAVE and Westlake this week. Our Chipotle fundraiser helped raise important operational funds that make it possible for us to keep hosting community favorites like Bingo Night — and new events like our upcoming Movie Night and Trivia Night.
And what a day Friday was! The Olympic Triathlon was a major success, thanks to over 70 family volunteers (special shoutout to the grandparents!) who braved one of the warmest September days to lead Art, Spanish, and PE activities. You created core memories for our students, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
We hope to see you at another WAVE event soon to keep spreading that Westlake magic!
