Celebrations

The Social Media & Mental Health Workshop that was led by our very own counselors and psychologist was resourceful and enlightening.  Thank you, Ms. Jessica Krivoy, Ms. Sulema Luna, Ms. Parwana Daud, Ms. Carli Fabbri, and Ms. Christina Saad, for helping to provide awareness to families and staff about this important topic.

Our annual K-8 Open House was an incredible success! Families had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant learning environments across our K-8 campus. We are so grateful for the strong turnout and engagement from our wonderful community.

Last Day of School Dismissal Time Reminder: On the last day of school, Thursday, June 6th, 8th grade will dismiss after Promotion Breakfast at 11:00 A.M and all other grades levels will be dismissed at 12:00 PM.

Free Sports Physicals at Urgent Care Now: Our partners at NUSD are offering free sports physicals at Urgent Care Now  every Monday and Friday from 7AM to 7PM through the month of June. CLICK HERE for the flyer. Physicals are required to play middle school or high school sports for the 24-25 school year.

K-8 Announcements

Front Street Animal Shelter Donation Drive: Our Middle School Elective, Community Giving, is supporting Front Street Animal Shelter by hosting a donation drive. Would you like to help animals in need? If so, please consider joining our Middle School Explorers by donating new and gently used items, such as cat and dog food, blankets, towels, and pet toys. This donation drive runs from Monday, May 20th – Friday, May 31st. Donated items may be dropped off in your grade level flex space. Spirit Shirt Contest – Submissions Due THIS Friday, May 24th: It’s time for Westlake to pick the student drawing for next year’s Friday spirit shirt! This contest is open to all Westlake Charter School students. On an 8.5×11 sheet of paper, students should draw a black and white picture of what Westlake means to them. Students should make sure their drawing includes the school name. Email submissions to [email protected] or turn it into the front office. All entries must be received by THIS Friday, May 24th. Winners will be announced in the Family Weekly on June 2nd. 

K-8 Spirit Day – Book Character Day: Friday, May 24th is Book Character Day! What better way to show our love for literature than to dress up like our favorite character?! Don’t forget to show your WCS spirit by posting pictures on all social media platforms and using the hashtags #WestlakeCharter and #WCSSpiritFriday! 

Please remember to follow the dress code guidelines below for spirit day:

  • Clothes must be free of inappropriate wording and images
  • All shirts must have sleeves, no sleeveless shirts
  • All clothing must be free of rips and tears
  • All clothing must fit properly, pants around the natural waist, tops completely covering the torso area
  • No dangerous accessories (i.e., wands, swords, masks)

Families, we need your help! This year, June 4th will be a free dress day and each grade level will represent their grade level by wearing a different colored t-shirt. Please see what color shirt to have your child wear that day!

8th Grade Promotion: Our 8th grade promotion will be at 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 6th.  This is a ticketed event and only people with tickets are permitted to attend. 8th Grade students will be released with parents/guardians at the end of promotion.

9-12 Announcements

WCHS Open House: Our WCHS Open House is THIS Wednesday, May 22nd from 5:30 – 7:00 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to connect with teachers, staff, and other families while gaining insight into your child’s educational journey. To kick off the evening, we have arranged for the Bubble Cone food truck to be on site starting at 5:00 PM, so come hungry and ready to enjoy some delicious treats before exploring the school starting at 5:30.

Western Association For College Admission Counseling (WACAC) College Fair: California State University of Sacramento is hosting the WACAC 2024 Spring College Fair. Students will be able to meet with representatives from over 100 public and private universities. The event will be on Tuesday, May 28th from 5:30 – 7:30 PM at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Downtown Sacramento. We recommend registering in advance at www.strivefair.com. CLICK HERE to see the schools that will be represented at the college fair. 

Open Gym Athletic Opportunities:  Our WCHS  athletics team is currently coordinating athletic training opportunities for the spring and summer.  If you’re interested in knowing more please reach out to [email protected].
