Parent Survey: The Parent Survey is taken 3 times a year. CLICK HERE to answer six questions to rate your family’s experience at Westlake Charter School during the 2022-23 school year. The deadline is Friday, March 17th.  

Spirit Day – Wacky Sock Day: Wacky Sock Day is Friday, March 17th! Staff and students can show their Westlake Charter School spirit by wearing wacky socks. Don’t forget to take a picture of your silly socks, post your picture to your social media accounts and use the hashtag #WcsSpiritFriday #WestlakeCharter

WAVE Coffee Talk: Join WAVE on Friday, March 17th for Coffee Talk at the Westlake Charter School K-8 campus.  We’ll get the conversation started at 8:30 am and we’d love to have you join!

Big Day of Giving!: Have you heard of the Big Day of Giving?  Does your business, or employer, participate? The BDOG is coming up on Thursday, May 4th , 2023. K-8 Announcements

Traffic Safety: During the dismissal process, following traffic rules is an essential part of maintaining a safe environment for children. This includes parking in designated areas, adhering to the instructions of school staff, and obeying traffic laws. Traffic rules help to ensure that students are not in harm’s way when they are entering and exiting vehicles. When drivers obey traffic laws, they are less likely to be in an accident or cause a disruption in the flow of traffic. Additionally, traffic laws help to reduce congestion and provide a safe environment for pedestrians. 

Spring enrichment: Spring enrichment classes begin next week. If your student is participating in enrichment, please set School Dismissal Manager to “Enrichment”. Students participating in enrichment classes will meet their instructor in the cafeteria at dismissal. CLICK HERE for the schedule so you know where to pick your student up after class.

6-8 Explorer Athletics: Our spring season starts in just a few weeks, and we’ll be playing futsal and flag football. If your middle school student wants to play and has not turned in a participant packet this school year, please CLICK HERE to fill one out. Hard copies are also available at the front office. More information will be provided next week.

Call for Coaches: Our spring athletics season for 6th-8th grade Explorers starts in just a few weeks, and we are looking for volunteer FUTSAL and FLAG FOOTBALL coaches. Please share the flier with family and friends; we need the community’s support to ensure the success of Explorer athletics. Reach out to Coach Sterling with questions.

Save the Date: We are excited to announce the date for our High School 101 Night. April 4th 5:30-7 PM. 

Spring Dance 3/18:  We are excited to host our Spring Semi-Formal Dance, on Saturday, March 18th.  This dance will be held on our K8 campus Saturday, March 18th at 7:00 pm.  If students would like to bring a guest, they must complete a guest pass form.  Guest pass forms need to be approved prior to purchasing a guest ticket.  Guest pass forms will be available at WCHS’ front office.  If you are interested in volunteering or donating to support our upcoming dance CLICK HERE to sign up. Tickets will be available in the Commons for $5.00 a ticket. The attire for the dance is semi-formal.  

Spirit Week, March 13th-17th:  Get ready for WCHS’ Spring Semester Spirit Week!  We are looking forward to seeing our high schoolers creativity and school spirit! Students can dress up as the following to earn points for their Advisories:

• Monday, March 13: Video Game Day
• Tuesday, March 14: Business Attire Day
• Wednesday, March 15: Twin Day
• Thursday, March 16: Black Light Day
• Friday, March 17: Disney Royalty Day/ Wacky Socks

K-12 Movie Night: Save the Date for Movie Night on Friday, March 31st! We will have one movie playing at the K-8 campus while another is playing at our High School campus. We will have popcorn, water, and treats available for all to enjoy during the movie. Stay tuned for additional information coming soon!

International Festival: The 18th Annual International Festival is quickly approaching  on Saturday, April 29th. The highlight of our International Festival are the Cultural Booths hosted by WCS families and staff. We are in need of booth hosts to make this event a success!

• Cultural booth hosts may provide a small sampling of native cuisine, cultural artifacts, a children’s activity/game and/or anything else you would like to demonstrate or display. The booth can be as simple or complex as you would like. We would love to have as many cultures represented as possible.

WAVE Board Elections: Help us make the 23-24 school year amazing by joining the WAVE Board. All board positions of President, Vice President of Business Operations, Vice President of Parent Participation, Treasurer and Secretary are coming up for election in May.
