A perfect candidate to lead as our Westlake Charter High School Assistant Principal:
- Is able to assist in the coordination of school and community activities; and to provide responsible and complex support to the Principal
- Has and promotes a Growth Mindset in students, staff, and our community
- Has the interpersonal, listening, and teacher advocacy skills required to lead in a dynamic and innovative school culture
- Is deeply committed to Shared Leadership
- Is able to manage initiatives co-lead across several committees
- Is able to align decision making with the Mission, Educational Pillars, and the Core Values of Westlake Charter School including:
- A commitment to ensuring a balance of Academic and Social-Emotional ReadinessThe development of Expert Learners as defined by the Guidelines for Universal Design for Learning
- Aligning resources to assist in the promotion of the social and emotional competencies defined by the Collaborative for Social and Emotional Learning
- Is a stalwart advocate of our fully inclusive program and a champion of diversity, equity, inclusivity, and cultural competencies
Exposure to the following topics will help a new leader onboard to the instructional culture of Westlake Charter School:
- A belief in the power and importance of shared leadership
- Responsive Classroom to develop classroom culture
- Restorative practices when managing student behavior
- Educational Technology used Kindergarten through 8th Grade
- Standards Based Grading and Assessments
- Experience leading Multi-tiered Systems of Support
- Best practices in special education full inclusion models
Experience and Training Guidelines:
Any combination of the following experience and training would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities that could qualify someone for this position. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- Experience: At least five years of successful teaching experience with appropriate California Teaching Credential
- Training: Equivalent to a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in education, education administration, social work, counseling or a related
- field is desired
- License or Certificate: California Administrative Service Credential or enrollment in an Administrative Credential Internship program
