Spirit Shirt Contest – due THIS FRIDAY May 14: It’s time for Westlake to pick the student drawing for next year’s Friday spirit shirt! This contest is open to all Westlake Charter School students. On an 8.5×11 sheet of paper, students should draw a black and white picture of what Westlake means to them. Make sure your drawing includes the school name. Email submissions to [email protected] or turn it into the front office. All entries must be received by Friday, May 14th.

Open House: Save the Date – Wednesday, May 19th at 6PM for our Westlake Charter School Virtual Open House event! Explorer families will have the opportunity to virtually visit their classroom and other classrooms and see students reflect on this school year!

• Chill dren’s Treat Wednesday-every Wednesday students can bike to a local park to receive a free dessert. Wednesday, May 12th from 5-7pm bike to Witter Ranch Park and receive a free dessert from Kona Ice.

JoinWestlake.com: We have community members who are interested in how to enroll in Westlake Charter School. If you have friends or family who are interested, you can point them to JoinWestlake.com. While our enrollment lottery has already taken place for the 2021-2022 school year, it is not too late to be added to the waitlist.

High School Happenings:

Calling All Coaches: The high school team continues to grow. We have now posted all of our coaching positions for the 2021-22 school year.  Our coaching positions will be the basis for building our high school sports program.  The following coaching positions are posted on Edjoin.

In case you missed it:

2021-22 School Year: Families, we are so thankful to each of you for your teamwork in managing each of the required changes that we have made together this year. From Distance Learning, to Baseline, to Increased Capacity, our families have had to adjust to our changing realities each step of the way. We are proud that today, each student has remained with their teacher and their classmates, and that we are able to deliver academic and social emotional support to each student equitably whether they are learning on campus or from home. Thank you for your continued support, we are almost to the end.

Westlake Charter School plans to reopen in the fall using our full capacity schedule. Meaning that our students will attend school as they traditionally have, five days a week, for full days. We are not authorized to offer distance learning, so at this point, we are planning on all instruction happening on campus. We will of course continue to follow the health recommendations of Sacramento County Public Health and will continue to communicate with our families each step of the way. 

Summer BASE: We are in the process of planning our BASE summer program, and we need to hear from you! A big part of the planning process depends on how many students will be in attendance and if there is a need to be open that week. Click HERE  by Wednesday, May 12th to let us know if there are any days or weeks this summer that you would like to have your student(s) attend BASE at the daily rate of $45. 

Notify of COVID-19 Exposure: If a member of your household has been exposed to COVID-19 or has tested positive to COVID-19 in the past 14 days, please be sure to email [email protected] so we can partner to follow the quarantine or isolation guidelines. Also, if you student has had any COVID-19 symptoms in the last 24 hours, please email [email protected] and your student’s teacher so your student can participate in Distance Learning until they have been symptom free for 24 hours.

Office Schedule: During Level 3: Baseline, our office is open and welcoming one family at a time from 8:00 am to 1:15pm. If you need to pick up a missed Distance Learning Kit pick up, please come to the office from 8:00 am to 1:15 pm. For virtual support, you can call 916-567-5760 or email [email protected].

2021/22 WAVE Board and Committees: Are you looking for a way to get more involved next year? The WAVE Executive Board is in need of a Vice President to oversee fundraisers and community events. We are also forming several committees including Family Nights, Olympic Triathlon, International Festival, Staff Appreciation, Corporate Donations and Spirit Gear. Volunteer Hour Log: Many of our fantastic families volunteered during the 20/21 school year. If you attended meetings, contributed to the International Festival, volunteered during the Olympic Triathlon or any other support activities, please log your hours today. Kudos: As Staff Appreciation Week comes to an end, we would like to express our sincere thanks to each and every staff member at Westlake Charter School. Many have taken on new and unique roles on and off campus as things continually changed. Our entire staff has been committed to keeping our students safe and providing them with academic and social emotional support. We hope each of you felt our great appreciation throughout the past week.
