Progress Toward Reopening Update: Click HERE for a letter regarding our reopening plans as we approach our next checkpoint. The next communication checkpoint will be November 15th at the end of the trimester. This letter explains the work we will do leading up to the next checkpoint to determine when we may be able to consider moving through to the next level of our reopening plans.
Walktober: Walktober is back with even more ways to participate. Click HERE to join the Jibe Student Challenge to track your walking and biking trips, challenge friends, complete your Walktober Passport, and earn prizes. Complete 9 challenges to unlock letters for your Walktober Passport. Once you’ve unlocked all of your letters, unscramble them to uncover the mystery word. Click HERE to submit stories, poems, or essays about walking and biking on the Jibe The Write Way website. Participate in any or all of the opportunities and have a happy Walktober!
Coffee Talk: Tuesday, October 13th, Westlake Charter School is hosting a Parent Coffee Talk live via YouTube. We will open the meeting with Celebrations and will answer questions live throughout the meeting. To enter a celebration or ask a question, we will be making this Google Form Link live during the broadcast.

Progress Reports: Our first trimester Mid-Trimester Progress Reports were mailed home the week of October 5th. Please email [email protected] if you have not received your progress report. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to your teacher. Click HERE to complete this form by October 16th to let us know that you have received your child’s Mid-Trimester Progress Report.

Sacramento County Public Health – Celebrating a safe Halloween: A safe Halloween may look and feel a little different this year, but you can still enjoy Halloween, while reducing the risk of spreading COVID-19. Sacramento County Public Health has asked for our support in sharing these precautions with our community.
City of Sacramento offer – Free digital resources: The City of Sacramento and United Way California Capitol Region have launched a Digital Equity Response program which will provide up to 10,000 qualifying Sacramento city households internet connectivity and up to 1,000 individuals and families with computers or hotspots at no cost. The program will also include digital literacy training
and outreach for community members, seniors, individuals with limited English skills and children. You may qualify to receive internet services, computers and digital training at no cost if you are eligible for public assistance programs and live in the City of Sacramento, Government. Apply by calling 211 or visit sacramentocovidrelief.org/digital.

Virtual Learning Lab: Students, Parents or Teachers can sign up a student to meet with the grade level Instructional Aide between 2-2:30pm daily to receive additional time or support completing a specific assignment or assessment. To sign up, click HERE to visit our Distance Learning website and go to your student’s grade level page.
Office Appointments: During Distance Learning, our office is not open for visitors. If you need to pick up a device, headphones, or missed a Distance Learning Kit pick up, please click HERE to make an appointment to pick up your item. Distance Learning Technical Help Desk – Now Open: Westlake Charter School has created a digital Help Desk to support our families during this time of Distance Learning. Chipotle Dinner Fundraiser: Thank you to everyone who participated in our first dinner fundraiser of the year! We earned $252 for WAVE! Please be on the lookout for another dinner fundraiser coming soon!
Spirit Gear: We are so excited to offer Westlake Charter School Spirit Gear this Fall! All items will be shipped directly to your home. Don’t forget to plan for cooler temperatures by purchasing a hoody or beanie. We are also offering WCS masks for the first time! Kudos: Over 500 students participated in school pictures on campus this week! The entire process was safe, quick, well organized and fun. Thank you to Mrs. Gruenholz for organizing such an awesome opportunity for our students. Thank you to all of the staff members who helped keep the pictures running smoothly and on time. Finally, thank you to the families who came out to campus to take pictures this week. What a great collaboration!
