Coaches Needed: Families have spoken and we have listened: Westlake Charter School is launching a 6th – 8th Grade Sports program in the fall. We need coaches, assistant coaches and support volunteers. We have over 125 students who have shown interest in playing Flag Football and Volleyball in the fall, but we can not do this without you! All parents, please click HERE and let us know how you can help support our Explorer Sports Program.

Updated Date for the Back to School BBQ: Our Back to School BBQ has had a date change – mark your calendar to attend the Back to School BBQ on Sunday, August 5th from 11:00AM to 2:00PM at Valley Oak Park.
Box Top Competition Winners: Congratulations to Mrs. Rice’s class and Mr. Carter’s class for winning the box top competition! They will be enjoying a delicious donut party to celebrate! Thank you to everyone who sent in box tops to earn money for WCS!
Shopping to Educate Competition: The results are in and WCS came in fourth place in the Shopping to Educate Competition. This earned us another $750! Huge thanks to Kim Gustafson for leading both Shopping to Educate and School Cents again this year. We would love to continue these programs which provide FREE money to Westlake but we need a parent (or two) to take over as the coordinator(s). Please contact Amber Hustead at [email protected] to find out how you can help!
Fireworks Booth: The WAVE Fireworks Booth is back again this year and we need your help. Can you volunteer for a shift? We have 96 spots to fill and this is a great way to start earning volunteer hours for next year. Please Click HERE to sign up to work next to other amazing WCS families. Thank you for your continued support!
2018/19 Coordinators: WAVE is a non-profit run entirely by volunteers. Currently help is needed leading events, fundraising, managing our many programs (uniform swap, lost and found, fireworks booth, Arden Fair School Cents and more), soliciting sponsors, arranging grade level meetups and more. We cannot make this all happen without you. Please contact Amber Hustead at [email protected] to get involved.
Thank you!: We would like to sincerely thank you for another wonderful year at Westlake Charter School. Thank you to every person who attended, planned, supported volunteered at or donated to our incredible events and activities over the past year. It has been great to get to know one another at the Back to School BBQ, Fall Festival, Bingo Night, Science Night, Olympic Triathlon, Princess & Me Dance, Movie Night, International Festival, meetings, coffee talks and more.
Thank you to every Explorer family who took the time to read this weekly information from WAVE and get involved in our fabulous school community. WAVE is successful because of the collaboration of families, the Admin Team, Teachers, Staff and the WCS Board. Please remember to thank your WAVE Executive Team of Amber Hustead, Elena Thrower, Aileen Go Policarpio, Nancy Fairbanks and Veronica Hernandez for all of their hard work and dedication this year. We look forward to working alongside all of you as we continue our mission of supporting Westlake Charter School during the upcoming school year.
