Pedestrian Safety Week: As September is Pedestrian Safety Month, Westlake Charter will be finishing the month strong with our WCS Pedestrian Safety Week campaign! Monday through Friday, September 25th to September 29th, we will be engaging our entire community in a daily conversation around Pedestrian Safety. Each family should review the Pedestrian Safety Pledge for students and families. Each student who brings signed pledge to the blacktop or advisory on Friday morning, signed by students and parents, will have their pledge posted to our pledge wall and displayed for our entire community to see. We want 100% of our students and families to make this pledge! We will be promoting daily conversations each day on social media and in classrooms across our campus.

New Elective Rotation: 6th-8th grade students will start new elective classes on Monday, September 25th. They will receive updated schedules in their advisory class on Monday. This elective rotation will be September 25, 2017 to November 9, 2017.
October Break: There will be no school, and we will be closing our office from Monday, October 9 through Friday, October 13th for Fall Break. We typically try to keep some office hours during breaks; however, this team worked hard all summer to open this new campus and we are asking everyone to take the week off. BASE will be open from 7am to 6pm during Fall Break.
Natomas Fun Run: The Natomas 5K Run for their Future is a community event designed to raise money to help local kindergarten through 12th-grade students, potential leaders of tomorrow. Proceeds from the 5 kilometer fun run and walk will be used by the Natomas Schools Foundation and by local schools for art, academic, athletic and other school-related purposes for students living within Natomas Unified School District boundaries. The 5K is a fun-for-all-ages event, ideal for families and meant to accommodate everyone from competitive runners to young children to anyone desiring a little Saturday exercise by walking or jogging at their own pace. WAVE Communication: Did you notice our WAVE team has weekly communications on their own tab of the Westlake Weekly. Be sure to click on their tab each week for important updates like how to log your volunteer hours as well as information on upcoming event.
WAVE Board Vacancy: Are you interested in joining the WAVE board? We currently have an immediate need for WAVE Secretary! Please contact Amber Hustead, WAVE President, at [email protected] for more information.
WAVE Booth: We will have a table set up near the Maybrook gate on Tuesday, September 26th from 2:40-3:30pm and on Friday, September 29th from 8:15-8:45am. Please stop by to learn more about WAVE, chat about volunteer opportunities, find out about upcoming events, share your ideas or just say “hi.”
Homework Zone: The North Natomas Library offers FREE homework help every Wednesday from 3:30-5:30pm for students in grades K-12. No registration is required!
Fall Festival: It’s not too early to “Save the Date” for this year’s Westlake Charter Fall Festival! Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, October 21st from 2-6pm. Please contact [email protected] to find out how you can help!
Labels for Education: A big thank you to all of our Campbell’s Labels for Education coordinators over the years! After 43 years, the Campbell’s Labels for Education program is ending. The school’s desired order was placed and all items were received last week, zeroing out our Campbell’s Labels for Education points in the program. School staff responded with, “This is amazing! Thank you for these much-needed items!” WAVE earned our school about 4 dozen balls and multiple gallons of glue for the points accrued by the Labels for Education program.
Logging Volunteer Hours: We listened to your feedback and created an easy, one click way to log parent volunteer hours! You should have received the instruction sheet with your Family Name which will be used to log and track your hours. It is that simple. Please contact [email protected] with any questions or changes. Please Click HERE to visit the new form to log your hours!
