Westlake Weekly – September 8, 2017

After School LIVE: Families, if your Explorer would like to join After-School Live, Westlake’s after-school club program, please Click HERE to fill out the interest form by Monday, September 11th at 8:00pm. Details about how clubs will be filled are on the form. Email [email protected] with any questions. In order to be equitable, each interested student will be entered into a lottery for one of the clubs offered for his or her grade level. Students who are not selected in the lottery will be put on the waitlist. If your student is not offered a spot in our fall After-School Live session, he or she will be given priority in the next session’s lottery.

Chili Cook Off: Come and test your Chili judging skills at 6pm on September 20th at Westlake Charter’s 5th Annual Chili Cookoff!  We are so excited for our entire campus to take part in this tasty event!  

6th-8th Grade: Team up with your advisory teacher to take on other classes head to head for the best chili at our Chili Cook Off!  We are asking for help with expert chili chefs, decorators, and servers!  Here is the sign-up sheet to volunteer or donate for the event.

Kinder-5th Grade: This year we are inviting our Kindergarten through fifth-grade families to join the event by contributing dessert and drink donations. We would love to see at least 5 desserts and 5 drinks donated per grade level.  Desserts are best donated in individual wrappings (ie brownies versus a whole cake).  Drinks are best as 2 liters or 12 oz cans. Attendance: We have three convenient options for you to notify us if your student will be absent. Please notify us by 8:45 AM and always include your student’s first and last name, teacher, and reason for the absence.

Coffee Talk: Thank you to everyone who came out to our first Coffee Talk of the year. It was a great morning full of discussion about After School LIVE, our new campus and so much more. Please save the date for our upcoming Coffee Talks on November 2nd, January 12th, March 2nd and May 4th. We hope to see you there!

Walking School Bus: Walking to school with our Walking School Bus is a fabulous way to start your day! Kids get to move their bodies and arrive at school ready to focus and learn. Special prizes will be awarded to students who join the Walking School Bus. Please only have students scan their cards if they walked at least three blocks or from home.

Fall Festival: It’s not too early to “Save the Date” for this year’s Westlake Charter Fall Festival! Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, October 21st from 2-6pm. Please contact [email protected] to find out how you can help!
