Our 8th grade students wowed their audience during their PBL Forces Showcase event as they presented their incredible spoken word poetry.
Our 7th grade Explorers traveled to UC Davis this week participating a scavenger hunt and learning from a National Geographic Photographer during a presentation in the Mondavi Center.
Explorers in Ms. Furden’s class journaled about their experiences over Spring Break and then shared their writing during Morning Meeting!

Practice Your Way to Westlake Day: Before break, we sent home this letter in backpack express as a Call to Action! Step two in our Call to Action is to practice! We are inviting our community to practice their route to our Mabry campus on Saturday, May 13th. We will round up at Valley Oak Park with coffee and donuts. You will have the opportunity to take a perimeter walking tour of the new campus with Mr. Eick. For those families who are available for an hour of community service, they can join us as we introduce ourselves to our new neighbors. NNTMA will have a pizza party for the class who has the most participants on May 13th!

WCS Spirit Store: Our Spirit Store is open for orders! We will have some new items available for purchase at the online Spirit Store. The last day for orders will be Monday, May 8th at 5pm.
Staff Appreciation Survey: Staff Appreciation Week is coming up May 8th through the 12th. You can praise this year’s teacher or thank your teacher from last year! You can appreciate someone from the office or drop a note to a custodian. Use this form to show our staff how much we all appreciate them. We promise, we will pass the note along and make their day! CAASPP Testing: Westlake Charter School’s 2017 CAASPP testing window is May 8 – June 2, 2017. Your child’s teacher will share the testing schedule for their classroom in their class newsletters.

Arrive at the blacktop at 8:10 am: Explorers may not be on the blacktop until 8:10 am. All students arriving early to campus should first go to the cafeteria before heading to the blacktop. Please remind your student to head to the cafeteria when they are being dropped off in the morning. Of course, don’t forget to take advantage of the Walking School Bus on Wednesday and Friday!

Open House Showcase: Our showcase event of student learning will be May 3rd from 6:00-7:00pm. Please make it a priority to attend with your family. Your students are eager to show off their amazing learning with you!

SBAC Testing schedule Grades 6-8th:
SBAC Testing Schedule 5th Grade: Our 5th grade students will test the week of 5/8 – 5/12 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11:45-2:45.
