Celebrations
The Student Support Services team is excited to have our instructional aides trained on a reading intervention program called Read Live on both campuses so they can provide extra support to students who need it!
Our 6th graders participated in “A Touch of Understanding,”a disability awareness program designed to educate students to understand the challenges associated with disabilities and to accept and respect all individuals.
Explorer families on the Del Paso Campus gathered to work together to make our parking lot safer for our Explorers during drop off and pick up!

Ways to Westlake: Families, please check out our new website www.WaysToWestlake.com. This site will help you plan your walking, biking, driving and parking decisions on our new campus. We will be asking you in the weeks to come to plot your course for each area listed. This week, we just ask that you swing by the site and watch the welcome video on the home page.
Parent Conferences: Parent Teacher conferences will be held March 13th- March 17th. Click Here to sign up for your student’s conference. Click Here for instructions on how to sign up. We look forward to having 100% of our families attending a 2nd trimester conference. Remember, March 13th-17th will be early dismissal for all grades to allow for time to meet with each of our families.
Talent Show: The Westlake Charter Talent Show has been rescheduled for March 10th. We can’t wait to see our Explorers show off their talents!
2017 International Festival: It’s that time of year again…The International Festival Committee is busy planning Westlake Charter School’s 12th Annual International Festival! Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 1st, from 3-7pm. You won’t want to miss all that we have in store for you! There will be a dessert walk, student performances, authentic dance, American Alley and, as always, SPECTACULAR Cultural Booths put on by our very own WCS parents! If you’d like to host a Cultural Booth or would like to help on the committee, please join us at our next IFC meeting on Monday, February 27th at 6:00 PM in the Event Center inside Bel Air on Arena Boulevard. Math Monday: Click Here for this week’s Math Monday. This week, explorers are asked to generate their own Math Monday problem which may appear in an upcoming Math Monday.
Participate in the Month of Global Perspective: During the month of Global Perspective, we will be celebrating the beautiful diversity we have at Westlake Charter School. Every Tuesday during the month of March, we are asking for families to come to our Morning Line Up to share about their culture with our explorer students. Click Here if you are interested in sharing during Morning Line Up. We will also be celebrating culture through dance on Fridays during our Music Friday, and we are looking for families who would be interested in bringing different types of music and dance to our afternoon recesses on Friday. Student-Led Conferences: As you sign-up for your time to come to conferences the week of March 13-17th, just a reminder that these End of the Trimester Conferences are student-led and held with Advisory/homeroom teachers. Please be sure to sign-up for a time when parents and student can both attend.
8th Grade Parent Meeting: On Wednesday, March 15th at 6:00pm all parents of 8th grade students should plan to attend this important informational meeting.This informational meeting will cover 8th grade requirements for promotion, promotion details, and the end of the year field lesson.
End of the Trimester: The end of the trimester is March 10th. Please be sure to check your student’s progress frequently on Infinite Campus. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to any of your student’s teachers.
Illnesses: We have had many students out sick in the past few weeks. Please remember, if your student has a fever or vomiting they should not attend school for 24 hours.
