Through their research and presentations, the 2nd graders have been inspired to become difference makers in our world.  We are looking forward to hearing from the difference makers in Mrs. Acquisto, Mrs. Wright, and Mrs. Wilson’s classes on Tuesday!

Screen Shot 2016-03-11 at 3.37.10 PM Ms. Ueltzen’s 3rd graders have been practicing their presentations for the student-led portion of their Parent Teacher conferences. One student was so excited about his goals and growth that he asked to share his presentation with Mrs. Battin!
Building school culture is something that Westlake Explorers do the best! We are so excited that our leadership students took the initiative to organize such a fun Spring Dance for our students.  Students enjoyed being together laughing and showing off their dance moves! Announcements:

For the Whole School

Important Dates: Parent Teacher Conferences are next week.  Please make sure you know what days your student has early dismissal (see Upcoming Dates section above).  Also, there will be no school the two weeks following conference week as we will have Spring Break March 21st through April 1st.  We will return to school on Monday, April 4th.  BASE will be open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM on our Del Paso campus during Spring Break.

CAASSP Parent Letter: Please read this parent letter regarding the upcoming CAASSP assessments.

Westlake Clubs! WCS and BASE are piloting an after-school club program that will allow students to attend one club for one hour a week for free! We are looking for volunteers to lead a club for a one-hour time slot, once a week for six weeks – May 2nd through June 13th. A flier came home in backpacks on Friday. In the weeks to come, we will provide information about how to sign up your student for an after school club, but first, we are looking for parents volunteers to share their gifts and talents with our Explorers. Training will be provided. Click HERE to see the detailed flier. Register to volunteer HERE

Lost and Found donated Friday: The lost and found is piling up again. Please check for any of your student’s clothing by Friday, March 18th. Anything not claimed by Friday will be donated over the Spring Break.

For Del Paso

Math Monday: PI Day! Click HERE to link to our special Math Monday celebrating Pi Day!

OPTIONAL Spring Picture Day on Thursday, April 7th:  Spring picture day will be optional this year.  All Del Paso students will have free dress on April 7th, but only students who have prepaid AND filled out this form will be sent to the photographer to have their picture taken. Picture packets will go home next week. If you would like to have your student’s Spring picture taken by Lifetouch, please fill out this form AND prepay online or send payment in the packet.

For Pebblewood

End of the Trimester Conferences: All week our students will dismiss at 12:30 PM to allow our families to come on campus to meet with our teachers.  We look forward to conferences as a chance to connect with you about your student, to celebrate your student’s successes and set goals for his or her future.  During our conferences, a portion of the conference is student-led; therefore, your student should attend the conference with you.  If you have not signed up, please do so as soon as possible here.  Remember, you should sign up under your advisory or homeroom teacher.  This is who your conference will be held with this trimester.  If you would like to meet with any other teacher on campus, please reach out to your advisor and they can arrange that.  We look forward to seeing 100% of our families.

Cell Phones:  Please take the time to review the cell phone policy with your child this week.  Phones should be off and stowed away during the school day.  If you need to reach your child during the school day, please call the front office and we would be happy to assist you.

Middle School Schedule – This week, our 6th through 8th-grade students will attend Blocks 1-5 all week with no advisory or elective classes due to the early out schedule.
