Celebrations:

  • Final architectural designs for our new campus have been submitted to the Division of the State Architect. Within the next 90 days we expect the designs to be approved. This means Westlake Charter is on track for opening our new campus, as hoped for, in the fall of 2017!
  • Thank you to all of the families that attended our Google Parent in Education Night, as well as the La Cucina Matematica Night! We are so lucky to have so many of our families connected to our school!
  • Westlake would like to celebrate our Core Value of the month: Respect! Our students and staff have been discussing it all month long. Click here for a short video that we shared with our students about showing respect on the playground!
  • We are excited to celebrate that the 2015 California Assessment for Student Progress and Performance (CAASPP) results have been published by the State of California! We are excited to see how well our students performed, and we are anxiously awaiting the individual paper copies that will soon be mailed home.

Parking Lot Data Update:  In looking over the data we gathered last week, we found that a 1st-4th grade family who arrives at the Del Paso parking lot between 2:45 and 2:50PM (at the end of kindergarten dismissal) has an average wait time of 38 minutes, while a 1st-4th grade family who arrives at the parking lot at 3:25PM has average wait time of 15 minutes. We will continue to give you updates on data as we assemble a team of staff and teachers to analyze the data and look towards a solution. If you would like to be a part of the parent team, helping to find a solution, click here. Another huge thank you to those families who helped us gather data in the heat last week!

Chili Cook-off: Our 3rd Annual Chili Cookoff is September 24 at 6PM. Don’t forget to check your Advisory/Homeroom teacher’s website to find out how you can get involved!

Grades: In the past, we used Engrade in grades 4-8 to record grades and to produce report cards.  We have now switched over to Infinite Campus to replace Engrade for grade recording and report cards. We will be opening the parent portal in the coming weeks where you can view your child’s current grades, much like you did with Engrade.  In the meantime, please check in with your student as they are frequently bringing home graded work. In addition, please do not hesitate to reach out to any of your child’s teachers with questions or concerns.
