Celebrations
Westlake Charter High School was excited to host the first WAVE Coffee Talk on the high school campus this school year. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with families and demonstrate what’s possible when school and community collaborate! Thank you to all of those who joined – the high school can’t wait for the next one.
Ms. Tang’s 10th grade World History class brought history to life by putting Napoleon Bonaparte on trial. Students took on courtroom roles to debate whether Napoleon was a hero or a tyrant. The highly engaging lesson encouraged students to use historical evidence, practice persuasive speaking, and think critically about Napoleon’s impact on Europe.
Our 8th graders are learning about volume. To kick off an early Pi Day celebration, students brought in cylindrical, conical, and spherical foods and calculated their volumes before enjoying the results. From cones to spheres, math got a little tastier as students explored how formulas come to life in the real world.

Kudos: Thank you to the families who joined us for Tuesday evening’s Coffee Talk at Westlake Charter High School. While it was a small group, the conversation was incredibly engaging and sparked some thoughtful ideas about how parents can continue supporting our school community. These gatherings often start small, but they’re exactly the kind of conversations that can build momentum and help keep Westlake a special place for our families.
A big thank-you as well to the Westlake administrators and staff who stayed after school to help set up, host, and create such a warm and welcoming space. We truly appreciate the extra effort. We look forward to seeing even more families at future Coffee Talks—come by to connect, ask questions, and get the inside scoop on what’s happening at Westlake.
