Olympic Triathlon: Our 19th Annual Olympic Triathlon fundraiser kick-off was on September 1st! We’re aiming for 100% student participation as we come together to support Westlake’s incredible programs. The Olympic Triathlon event is right around the corner on Friday, September 25th. You can customize it with your student’s name, a photo, and a donation goal. It is easy to quickly request sponsors via email or text, explaining why Westlake is amazing and how they can help us meet our goal this year.

Labor Day – NO SCHOOL: Westlake Charter School and our BASE program will be closed on Monday, September 7th for Labor Day.

Employment Opportunities: Westlake Charter School is looking for innovative, collaborative, positive staff members with a growth mindset to fill open positions for the 2026-27 school year; specifically Student Support Services Instructional Aides, a PE Aide, Program Aides, and Substitute Teachers.  Do you know someone who would be a good fit for Westlake Charter School? Suicide Prevention: September is Suicide Prevention Month. Throughout this month, our counseling staff will launch our suicide prevention week of activities for our middle and high school Explorers. Grades 6th – 12th will have lunch activities as well as visits from the counseling team during their Advisory periods. We recognize the sensitive nature of the topic of suicide and we are glad to have the opportunity to inform and educate our students so that they are safe.  If you have questions or concerns about your student, please contact our Director of Student Support Services, Katie Davis, at [email protected].

After School Live – Fall Explorer Enrichment: Our fall Explorer Enrichment starts soon!  CLICK HERE to see the catalog of Explorer Enrichment course offerings and information about how to sign up. E-mail [email protected] with scholarship inquiries.

Fourth – Eighth Grade Renaissance Parent Portal:  Fourth – Eighth Grade students and families now have access to view their grades. A one sheeter, with your student’s access code, was sent home with your child on Friday. To log into the Renaissance Parent Portal, go to: westlakecharter.illuminatehc.com. If you have questions, please ask your student’s teacher or email [email protected].

Traffic/Parking Reminders: Please be respectful and mindful during our arrival and dismissal process. Following traffic rules is an essential part of maintaining a safe environment for children. This includes parking in designated areas, adhering to the instructions of school staff, and obeying traffic laws. Traffic laws help to ensure that students are not in harm’s way when they are entering and exiting vehicles. When drivers obey traffic laws, they are less likely to be in an accident or cause a disruption in the flow of traffic. Additionally, traffic laws help to reduce congestion and provide a safe environment for pedestrians.

CCGI Notification and Opt Out: Westlake Charter High School will continue to utilize the California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) to support students in developing well-informed post-secondary plans. CCGI ensures that all high school seniors graduate with a thoughtful plan for their future, while also allowing students’ academic transcripts, unique identifiers, and college and career planning data to follow them and eliminate information gaps that can hinder success. WCHS Homecoming 2026: Get excited for this year’s WCHS Homecoming!  Homecoming Spirit Week runs from September 14th – 18th and our Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, September 19th. This semi-formal dance will take place at our K–8 campus at 2680 Mabry Dr. WCHS students may bring one approved guest to the dance. Students bringing a guest will need to pick up a guest pass application and have it approved prior to purchasing a ticket for their guest. Guest pass applications may be picked up from our Activities Director, Mrs. Grimaldi, and are due by Friday, September 11th.

Homecoming Spirit Week – September 14th–18th: Get ready to blast off into a week of out-of-this-world spirit! Each day brings a new way to celebrate our “Fly Me to the Moon” Homecoming theme, and we encourage all students to join in and show their Explorer pride!

• Monday – Shimmer & Shine: Start the week sparkling! Wear anything shiny, glittery, or star-inspired.
• Tuesday – Twinsday: Find your match! Coordinate outfits with a friend or group and come dressed as twins.
• Wednesday – Cosmic Character Day: Dress as your favorite character from outer space, think Buzz Lightyear, Star Wars, Transformers, Marvel, and more!
• Thursday – Nowhere to Wear: Wear something you normally wouldn’t have an occasion to wear! Go bold, silly, unexpected, or completely out of this world.
• Friday – Galactic Spirit Day: Represent your grade and show your spirit! 9th Grade – Pink | 10th Grade – Blue | 11th Grade – Purple | 12th Grade – Black. Let’s see which grade can bring the most Explorer spirit!
