Celebrations

Our final K-8 Spirit Day, Book Character Day was a literary success!! What better way to show our love for literature than to dress up like our favorite character?! Our Westlake Charter School Explorers really outdid themselves!

We are excited to celebrate the meaningful learning taking place in Mr. Alex Palmer’s Geography and Ethnic Studies class at the high school. A key focus of recent learning has been the concept of movement and migration. Students examined how immigration policies can both support and limit the movement of people, helping them build a deeper understanding of how systems and policies shape real lives. This work culminated in a beautiful project where students shared their learning about the history of movement and migration alongside their own family stories and experiences.

Members of our High School Robotics Team, The Metal Benders, ventured over to our K-8 Campus to engage in a valuable opportunity for our students to share their knowledge and enthusiasm for robotics with younger learners, helping inspire the next generation of STEM leaders. #bettertogether

Logging Hours: If you’ve volunteered 30 minutes or more, please take a quick moment to CLICK HERE to log your hours. Whether it was helping in the classroom, supporting the Olympic Triathlon, Bingo Night, or International Festival, every hour counts! Tracking volunteer time helps us meet our school’s charter commitments and shows the incredible impact our families make. It takes less than a minute — let’s see which grade level can log the most hours!
Kudos: We are halfway there, Westlake! As a school community we have logged 2,544 out of 5,000 hours this year, and some of our grades deserve a serious round of applause. Shoutout to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Grade for crushing their goals and then some. 3rd Grade is leading the way overall with an incredible 858 hours at 204% of their goal. That is the standard right there! Kindergarten, you are so close at 90%. A little push and you are there! For everyone else, here is the good news: you have until June 10th to log your hours! Did you attend the Glee Concert? The 5th Grade Social? A Coffee Talk? Show up for any school event or activity this year? Log it. Any hour where you supported or engaged with Westlake counts toward your grade’s total. Let’s finish strong together. Every hour matters!
