Celebrations

High school students have been cooking up a storm in their Planting a Revolution elective as they are learning cooking, teamwork, and cleaning skills. This week they minced, sautéed, and cleaned their way to making veggie fried rice! The program is getting an extra boost thanks to Mr. Alex Palmer, who was recently awarded a Raley’s grant to support the class and its hands-on culinary learning.

Our kindergarten students in Mr. Cook’s class were inspired by Orion Jean during their “People who make a Difference” unit and wanted to do something nice for those who may not have everything we do. Families donated items, new and old, and they will be delivered to Loaves & Fishes next week. Way to lead as Global Citizens!

This season, we launched ASLive Volleyball where more than 60 Middle School Explorers were coached by our very own WCHS Athletics TAs! These high school senior athletes came to the K-8 during 4th period to coach eight co-ed volleyball teams during practices and competitions. HUGE shoutout to our Athletics TAs, Coaches Alyssa, Matthew, Izzy, Ella, Miguel, Carena, Gabe, KC, Jackson, Brian, and Amiliana for making a positive, memorable experience for all of our middle school volleyball players. Up next: Boys and Girls Basketball!

- Student-centered moments drive engagement, and both large and small events matter.
- Sustainability relies on shared ownership across WAVE leadership, staff, and families.
- We honor traditions while evolving, grounding events in our Core Values and continuously reflecting and adapting.
We’re excited to carry these shared commitments forward as we continue this important work together! Join us at our next two Workshops to help envision how Fundraising and Volunteerism help our students and community thrive!
