Celebrations

We have a record number of Middle School Explorers participating in After School Live Volleyball this season! Over 90 middle schoolers are playing on eight intramural teams coached by WCHS Varsity Athletes! It’s an incredible cross-campus example of leading as a Global Citizen.

Our 2nd Annual WCHS Treat Street was a spooktacular success! Thank you to our Link Crew and Student Council for putting together such a fun event for our high schoolers. Students and clubs decorated candy stations, set up games with prizes, and enjoyed a movie together. It was wonderful to see students come together, enjoy the festivities, and make memories with their classmates. We appreciate everyone who helped make this event a success!

We had quite the turn out of walkers who participated in International Walk to School Day! What a great way to beat the traffic, get some exercise, and build community in the morning on the way to school! And to top it off, the DJ got everyone moving even more on the blacktop upon arrival!

Orientations will run throughout October and November to prepare for the Spring semester. ARC is requiring attendance for students and highly encouraging attendance for parents/guardians. These orientations will help prepare both families and their students to be most successful in taking college courses and what the expectations are being in the Dual Enrollment Program. CLICK HERE to sign up for a session. If students do not complete the orientation requirement, we cannot guarantee their enrollment in a course in the Spring. Note: if a student is currently enrolled in a dual enrollment class they do not need to do the orientation. Please reach out to the counselors with any questions!

November WAVE Board Meeting: Our bylaws have served WAVE well, and now it’s time to give them a thoughtful refresh. Many of them were written before we welcomed our high school campus, so some of the language and expectations don’t yet reflect the full community we are today. At our November WAVE Board Meeting, we’ll hold an open conversation about the best process for reviewing and updating our bylaws. This is a discussion only, with no vote and no changes being made that evening. We simply want to hear from you about how to do this well, who should be involved, and what a good timeline looks like, with the goal of finishing before the end of the school year.
Kudos: It truly takes a village to pull off the Fall Festival, and this year our village showed up in a big way. To the dozens and dozens of families who contributed their time, we are so grateful. Whether you ran a game booth, donated supplies, helped with setup and tear down, or hosted the dessert walk, you made this day magical for Explorers, young and old. Every smile, every cheer, and every sugar-fueled giggle happened because of you.
A big thank you also to our wonderful vendors, who brought extra community spirit and support to the festival. We’re so glad you were part of it.
And finally, a major shout-out goes to Whitney Browning and Sandra Crowell, our WAVE Vice Presidents. Their tireless effort, vision, and leadership are the reason this event came together so beautifully. The Fall Festival simply would not have happened without these two, and we are so thankful for everything they poured into it. Whitney and Sandra, you deserve all the flowers!
Thank you, WAVE community. You make this place special.
