Celebrations

The countdown to graduation is on! We’ve loved celebrating the Class of 2026 every step of the way—from recognizing our seniors at the Senior Awards Ceremony and seeing our Explorers take a “Walk Down Memory Lane” at the K–8 Campus to the“Senior Goodbye” rally where they crowned the Junior class who will become the leaders on campus next year. We can’t wait to watch them cross the stage on Tuesday and continue their journey of exploration, growth, and success!

Our 8th Grade Explorers recently celebrated two special milestones as they prepare for high school. Students enjoyed an overnight field lesson to Santa Cruz, where they visited University of California, Santa Cruz, completed a service project, camped overnight, and had fun at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. They also celebrated their final middle school dance with friends and classmates. Thank you to everyone who helped make these memorable experiences possible as our Explorers prepare for their next chapter.

Our 7th graders had the opportunity to participate in A Touch of Understanding, an experience they missed in fourth grade due to the pandemic. Through interactive activities and thoughtful discussions, students explored visible and invisible disabilities while developing empathy, awareness, and respect for others. We are proud of the compassion and openness they demonstrated as they continue to help create an inclusive and supportive school community.

Get Involved This Summer: The energy from this year has us excited for what comes next, and we want YOU to be a part of it.
This summer, WAVE is accepting nominations for event chairs and leads for some of our favorite community traditions: Bingo Night, Trivia Night, the Olympic Triathlon, the Fall Festival, and more. Whether you have been waiting for the right moment to step up or you are brand new to volunteering, this is your invitation.
Leading an event is one of the most rewarding ways to connect with our Westlake community, and you will never do it alone. We are here to support you every step of the way.
Ready to raise your hand? Fill out the form below for more information and to submit your nomination. We will be reviewing submissions throughout the summer and our goal is to have these roles filled before August 1st so we can hit the ground running when school starts.
Questions? Reach out to us anytime at [email protected]. We would love to hear from you. CLICK HERE to sign up!
Logging Hours: If you’ve volunteered 30 minutes or more, please take a quick moment to CLICK HERE to log your hours. Whether it was helping in the classroom, supporting the Olympic Triathlon, Bingo Night, or International Festival, every hour counts! Tracking volunteer time helps us meet our school’s charter commitments and shows the incredible impact our families make. It takes less than a minute — let’s see which grade level can log the most hours!
Kudos: As we close out another school year, I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude.
To every parent and family member who gave their time this year: thank you. Whether you volunteered for an hour or a hundred, helped set up a table, made a donation, or simply showed up, you made a difference. Our community logged thousands of hours of love for this school and for each other, and that is no small thing.
To our WAVE leadership team: I could not have done any of this without you. Your dedication, creativity, and heart showed up every single time we needed it. You gave more than anyone asked, and this community is better because of you.
What moves me most heading into next year is not just what we accomplished, it is what I know we are capable of. I have seen this community come together in the most beautiful ways, and I am so optimistic about what we will continue to build together for our students and families at Westlake.
Thank you for trusting me to lead. Thank you for showing up. And thank you for caring so deeply about this place we all call home.
Here is to next year. – Felix
