Celebrations

A special thank you to the amazing Mtra. Grimaldi and her dedicated team of helpers for organizing an unforgettable prom for our Juniors and Seniors! And a heartfelt thank you to all of the family volunteers and staff chaperones who pitched in with setup and helped keep the evening safe for everyone. Your efforts made the night truly special!

A heartfelt thank you to our families and students for every note cart, gift, smile, and kind word during Staff Appreciation Week! Our amazing WAVE team and family community truly showered our staff with gratitude—treating them to breakfast, lunch, snacks, and treats. Your thoughtfulness made this week incredibly special!

Our Third through Eighth Grade Explorers got an extra boost of encouragement from our Kindergarten through Second Grade Explorers who helped them to REACH FOR THEIR GOALS on CAASPP Testing the past two weeks.

Westlake & WAVE Strategic Alignment Workshops: Westlake Charter School (WCS) and the Westlake Association of Volunteer Explorers (WAVE) have begun to come together for three Westlake & WAVE Strategic Alignment Workshops. As WCS prepares to launch its next Strategic Plan, we are using these workshops to create excitement and alignment about what comes next for Westlake and WAVE in the coming years.
Thank you to everyone who joined us at our second Workshop to engage in thoughtful and energizing conversation about Fundraising at Westlake! Together, we discussed the meaningful ways we fundraise in our community. A few shared beliefs and commitments that emerged were:
- WCS and WAVE can work together to help clarify ways to fundraise and create clarity about why it is so important.
- WCS fundraising is critical to ensure all Explorers have access to opportunities like Field Trips, Sports, School Supplies, Events and more.
We’re excited to carry these shared commitments forward as we continue this important work together! Join us at our final Workshop to help envision how Volunteerism helps our students and community thrive!
- Wednesday, May 20th @ 5:30 PM – Workshop Topic: Volunteerism
*Workshops will be held on our K-8 Campus or attend via Google Meet (CLICK HERE to join virtually). To support participation, BASE will remain open free of charge for currently enrolled Westlake Charter School students whose families attend the event. Please CLICK HERE to pre-register.

Logging Hours: If you’ve volunteered 30 minutes or more, please take a quick moment to CLICK HERE to log your hours. Whether it was helping in the classroom, supporting the Olympic Triathlon, Bingo Night, or International Festival, every hour counts! Tracking volunteer time helps us meet our school’s charter commitments and shows the incredible impact our families make. It takes less than a minute — let’s see which grade level can log the most hours!
Kudos: Big props to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade families — you’ve officially crushed your volunteer hour goals! 3rd grade is leading the pack at an incredible 178% (745 hours!), followed closely by 2nd grade at 148% and 1st grade at 143% — these families set the bar and then kept going. Kindergarten, you’re knocking on the door at 89%, so keep pushing! To our 4th–12th grade families: the younger grades are watching the leaderboard and they are not playing around — now is the perfect time to log your hours and represent your grade level before the year is over. Check the live standings at westlakecharter.com/volunteer/grade-level-hours and let’s see who steps up next!
