Our first grade Explorers have used observations of the sun, moon, and stars to describe predictable patterns. To reinforce concepts learned in the classroom, Explorers visited the Planetarium at California State University of Sacramento and had a stellar time! #JoyfulLearning

Board Resolution Regarding School as a Safe Haven: In light of the new Federal Executive Orders related to immigration, Westlake Charter School would like to reiterate our commitment to the success of all students.

As stated in our Safe Haven Resolution adopted by our Board on April 6, 2017, under the law, all students have the right to attend public school and enjoy access to equitable educational and programmatic services regardless of the immigration status of the student.

Westlake Charter School is a safe and welcoming place for all students and their families.  In the event that immigration agencies request information or come to a school site unannounced, we shall take all necessary actions to support our students, families and community.

Prior to the launch of the school year, our entire staff had the opportunity to work with Dr. Sharroky Hollie, a nationally recognized educator who specializes in culturally and linguistically responsive teaching strategies. Nowhere is this work more significant and impactful than in our community which has recently been celebrated as one of the most diverse regions in the country. On February 12th, Dr. Hollie will return to Westlake Charter School to continue the work we began in the fall.

Thank you for your collaboration and support regarding this change in the schedule. If you need any support or information regarding this schedule change, please do not hesitate to reach out to our administrative team.
