Big shout to our High School Esports team and to Coach Aichele who is also running an amazing esports elective at our middle school. Last week our 8th grade Explorers and High School Esports team organized a scrimmage. With two big wins in the last week, it looks like our High School Esports team may also make it to the playoffs!

Our 8th grade Science classes participated in #WCSJoyfulLearning last week by learning how to extract DNA from strawberries. Shoutout to our Science team for creating these engaging opportunities for our Middle School Explorers to learn.

Congratulations to WCHS students Alexis Korvink and Josiah Aflleje for making the semi finals for this year's NASA HUNCH (High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware) Design Challenge! This is a national competition where students collaborate with NASA on products that will be used by astronauts in space missions. Ms. Stamas' Westlake Space Explorers Team designed a Lunar Habitat table for the Artemis mission. We’re excited to see what they create next year!

Lost and found: Our lost and found is overflowing with jackets, lunch boxes, water bottles and more! Please check for any missing items by Friday, April 7th. All unclaimed items will be donated over Spring Break.

High School 101 Information Event: We are excited to announce the date for our High School 101 Night. April 4th 5:30-7 PM.  This event will be for all current high school families. It will be held on our High School campus with presentations from our counseling and admin team. The topics covered at this event will be:

  • High School Information
  • Embedded Honors

Yearbook purchasing: Mrs. Grimaldi will have a table during our High School 101 event. You can pre-order the yearbook for this year and there will be a few of last year’s yearbooks. 

WCHS Tailgate Party: Current WCHS students are invited to join us on Thursday, April 6th for a Boys Varsity Volleyball game and tailgate party at our K-8 campus!  Our current WCHS students and our incoming class of ninth graders are invited.  The game starts at 4:00 and tailgate snacks will be available in covered dining. College Fair: Sacramento State will host the WACAC Spring College Fair on Tuesday, April 11th inside the University Union. This free event is for high school and community college students. As of today there are 111 colleges and universities registered. These schools come from all over the state, country, and world. Monthly WAVE Meeting: Once a month we host a parent/guardian meeting to discuss community building activities, fundraising, upcoming events, and ways to support our staff. This month will focus on the International Festival, Fireworks Booth, Staff Appreciation Week, Game Night, and  WAVE Board elections. International Festival: The 18th Annual International Festival is quickly approaching  on Saturday, April 29th from 3-6PM. International Festival is an annual event held here at WCS, celebrating our diverse community. Did you know our Westlake Charter School has families from all corners of the globe? What better way to get to know our community than to share our cultural backgrounds through food, games, and art. It’s a beautiful annual tradition to celebrate how we embrace global citizenship at Westlake!

The highlight of our International Festival are the Cultural Booths hosted by WCS families and staff. We are in need of booth hosts to make this event a success!

  • Cultural booth hosts may provide a small sampling of native cuisine, cultural artifacts, a children’s activity/game and/or anything else you would like to demonstrate or display. The booth can be as simple or complex as you would like. We would love to have as many cultures represented as possible.

WAVE Board Elections: Help us make the 23-24 school year amazing by joining the WAVE Board.
