Celebrations

Fifth Graders in Mrs. Barnes had their classroom transformed into a SPOOKY space of learning on Halloween! This is a great example of #WCSJoyfulLearning.
Who knew that learning could be so fun when you are writing with a highlighter that glows from black lights?!

Our high school students had their first Homecoming Dance and it was a huge success! Students dressed up and enjoyed an “Enchanted Garden” evening with dancing, photos, and food. Special shoutout to our leadership students and parent volunteers that brought our Enchanted Garden theme to life!

Special Announcement: Please click on tonight’s Special Announcement Blog Post and watch tonight’s Special Announcement Video to hear about the action taken by our WCS Board of Directors to purchase an 8 acre parcel of land within walking distance of our K-8 campus. There are no current plans, nor timelines for construction, and while it may be years away, this land will be the future home of our WCHS campus.

Take Home COVID tests: Our partners at NUSD have provided us with take-home COVID tests to bring home before Thanksgiving Break. The idea is for all of us to test before returning to school on Monday, November 28th. This is not mandatory, we will not be tracking negative tests. As always, we ask staff and students to report positive COVID-19 tests to contact tracing. CLICK HERE to notify our contact tracing team who will reach out to you with return to school timelines.

Academic Calendar: We have had a few families ask about the academic calendar for the 23-24 school year. The calendar will go before our board in December. In the meantime, please CLICK HERE to see our current 22-23 academic calendar. Please note one change from previous years is our travel day moved from spring break to the end of winter break. School will kick off on Tuesday, January 10th after Winter Break.

K-8 Announcements

Dismissal Pedestrian Safety: The safety of our students and community is our top priority. We have identified a safety concern for our pedestrians during dismissal. Students and families are cutting across traffic as they arrive and leave campus, therefore we are returning to our pre-pandemic walking procedures: Beginning Monday, November 14th, only car line students will exit the front gates. All walking students and families will enter and exit through the Maybrook or the bike path gates, where crosswalks are more accessible. Walking/biking families will not enter through the front gates – please enter campus to pick up your student using the Maybrook or bike path gate. Those gates will open five minutes before dismissal to assist with walking congestion.

  • Students who bike or ride their scooter or skateboard will pick up their bike from the locked area, then exit the back of campus.
  • CLICK HERE to see a map of available crosswalks that should be used by all of our pedestrians.
  • One more thing – please don’t drop off or pick up your student in the middle of the street. THANK YOU for your partnership in keeping our community safe.
