Our Open House events on both campuses were special nights for staff, students, and families. Students were excited to show their classroom, work, and projects to their families. Our #WestlakeCharter High School #Space4Girls club, launched a weather balloon into space on Saturday. The capsule and onboard experiment were designed by our students and the recovery mission retrieved all contents upon touchdown. Successful mission, amazing team!

Our hearts are heavy and our thoughts are with the community of Robb Elementary School. The tragedy of yesterday’s events are devastating not only to those who live nearest to these events but to everyone who has ever loved anyone. As each of us grapples with this information, please be willing to reach out for help. Please remember that we each process differently and have our own unique ways of coping with tragedy. This link includes information from the National Association of School Psychologists that may help each of us as we speak with students about violence and safety. If you need any support with this conversation, please do not hesitate to reach out to our admin team.

Field Day: We are excited to have Kinder-7th Grade students participate in Field Day rotations at Valley Oak park.  Each grade level will walk over to the park for an hour during their scheduled time to have some fun!  Permission slips are required to attend and due June 3rd.  Please contact your teacher if you need another one.  Interested in volunteering?  We’d love your help!  CLICK HERE to sign up.

K8 Last Day of School: K-7  Students will dismiss at 12:00PM. Lunch will be provided for students as needed and students are welcome to bring lunch from home for a picnic lunch at 11:10 with their class.  Report cards will be sent home with students.  

9th Grade Last Week: The 2021-2022 school year is coming to a close and our High School campus will have a handful of events to celebrate. Please see the list of dates below as a reference. 

  • 6/6- College Field Lesson
    • Leave at 8:00 AM
    • Arrive to campus at 4:00 PM
  • 6/7- Quarry Park and Overnight
  • 6/8- Dismiss from Overnight at 8:30 AM
  • Report cards will be mailed home on June 10th.  

Surveillance Testing: The last day of on-campus surveillance testing will be Wednesday, June 1, 2022. There will not be surveillance testing on Wednesday, June 8th. 

Memorial Day: There will be no school on Monday, May 30th in observance of Memorial Day.  BASE will be closed as well.

DC/NY Information Night: Our annual 8th grade DC/NY trip is scheduled for next year’s spring break: April 8-12, 2023. 7th grade families are invited to join us for an informational meeting this coming Wednesday, June 1 at 6:00PM. School Start and End Times 2022/23: Following Senate Bill 328, our high school start time will push back starting the 2022-23 school year. Please see grade level regular day start and end times below:

  • Kindergarten: 8:30 AM – 2:45 PM
  • 1st-5th Grade: 8:30 AM – 3:15 PM
  • 6th-8th Grade: 8:15 AM – 3:15 PM
  • 9th-10th Grade: 8:30 AM – 3:45 PM

BASE Summer Camp Registration: Great news! We have enough interested families to open a BASE summer camp! For planning purposes, kindly CLICK HERE to register any WCS students who will be joining us this summer. Please complete one form for each student. Email [email protected] with any questions.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Dates: Monday-Friday,  June 13th – July 1st and July 11th – August 5
  • Hours: 8:00am-6:00pm
  • Rates: $8.50 hourly with a $60 daily maximum per student
  • Pre-payment is not required for attendance and drop-ins are welcome.

Reporting COVID-19 Positive Tests and Exposure: If your student has tested positive to COVID-19, or has been exposed to someone who tested positive off campus, please CLICK HERE to complete this form and our contact tracing team will follow up. 

COVID Symptoms: If your student has any COVID-19 symptoms, please keep them home until they are symptom free for 24 hours. Symptoms include: Fever over 100.4, sore throat, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, muscle/body aches, cough, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell. If your student has any of those symptoms, please keep them home until they are symptom-free for 24 hours and email [email protected] to report their absence. 

22/23 Event Calendar of Events: We are beginning to work on the calendar of events for the next school year. We are looking to schedule popular events, like Fall Festival, but we need your help to make this happen. All of our events and activities are in need of committee volunteers. We need you! Please email [email protected] to volunteer for your favorite event!

Kudos: Thank you to the 2021/22 WAVE Board for working hard to reconnect our community this year. We appreciate all they have done to reintroduce events, fundraise, encourage volunteerism and celebrate the entire Westlake Charter School community. Your 21/22 WAVE Board members are Veronica Hernandez, Shari Kantor, Jess Wilson, Rocio Owens and Amber Hustead. Please take a moment to thank each of them when you have the opportunity!
