Health and safety: Please see our Health and Safety Guidebook and our COVID Dashboard on the Return to Schools website.

Spring Break and Staff workday: Westlake Charter School will be closed April 11th –  April 19th for Spring Break. Tuesday, April 19th will be a teacher work day, there will be no school for students.

  • BASE Survey: Families, we want to hear from you – are you interested in sending your Explorer(s) to BASE over the upcoming Spring break? If so, please CLICK HERE to let us know. Your responses will help us decide if we offer a camp and what it would look like. If enough families are interested, we will share registration information next week.

K-8 Lost & Found: Our lost and found is overflowing. Now that campus is open to families at arrival and dismissal, we encourage families to stop by the lost and found behind the admin building to look for any of their student’s missing items before Spring Break. All items that are in the Lost and Found will be donated over spring break.

CAASPP Testing:  Our statewide testing window will take place between April 25th-May 31st for our 3rd-8th grade students.  CLICK HERE for our annual notification letter with more testing information.

Afterschool Bike Club with Jibe: 5th, 6th, and 7th graders – are you interested in riding your bike after school with Jibe? If so, CLICK HERE for more information about the program and to sign up. Email Allison Chavez with questions: [email protected].

International Festival: Save the date for our annual  International Festival on Saturday, April 30th. The highlight of our International Festival are the Cultural Booths hosted by WCS families. We are in need of booth hosts to make this event a success!

  • Cultural booth hosts may provide a small sampling of native cuisine, cultural artifacts, a children’s activity/game and/or anything else you would like to demonstrate or display. The booth can be as simple or complex as you would like. We would love to have as many cultures represented as possible.
  • CLICK HERE to register to host a booth or send an email to [email protected] for more information.

In case you missed it…

Intent to Return: Each year, we ask our 5th grade families and our 8th grade families to complete an Intent to Return form to let us know if their student will be continuing to our Middle School or High School respectively. The forms for 5th and 8th grade have been sent directly to those families, as well as in newsletters. For students in any other grade levels who are not planning to return to Westlake Charter for the 22-23 school year, please email [email protected]

Reporting COVID-19 Positive Tests and Exposure: If your student has tested positive to COVID-19, or has been exposed to someone who tested positive off campus, please CLICK HERE to complete this form and our contact tracing team will follow up.

Walking and Bike to School Volunteers  Needed: We are in need of adult volunteers to join our daily Walking School Bus and scan student cards on campus. Can you walk to school with your student and other Explorers 1-5 mornings a week? Can you scan student cards near the Maybrook gate in the mornings? It is a fantastic way to start the day and volunteer with students. Please email [email protected] to get started.

COVID Symptoms: If your student has any COVID-19 symptoms, please keep them home until they are symptom free for 24 hours. Symptoms include: Fever over 100.4, sore throat, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, muscle/body aches, cough, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell. If your student has any of those symptoms, please keep them home until they are symptom-free for 24 hours and email [email protected] to report their absence.

Community Events Committee: As we begin to plan community events for this Spring and into the next school year, we are building a Community Events Committee to lead the way. We are also rebuilding the Fall Festival, Olympic Triathlon and the My Princess and Me Dance Committees. Please send an email to [email protected] with questions or to join a committee. We are so excited to begin hosting events together again!

Papa Murphy’s Fundraiser:  Our next restaurant fundraiser is coming up on Wednesday, April 6th from 12-8pm at Papa Murphy’s  (2701 Del Paso Road). Order online and type “WAVE” in the notes section or in-person by mentioning WAVE. We will receive 15% back. It’s that easy!

WAVE Board Elections: Help us make the 22-23 school year amazing by joining the WAVE Board. All board positions of President, Vice President of Business Operations, Vice President of Parent Participation, Treasurer and Secretary are coming up for election in April. If you are interested in learning more or finding out how to get involved, please contact Amber Hustead, WAVE President, at [email protected]

Kudos: We have an International Festival Committee! Thank you to all of the parents who recently stepped up to make this event possible. We cannot wait to get together for this fantastic annual Westlake Charter School tradition!
