K-8 Spring Picture Day: Spring picture day is Monday, March 21st, all students will have free dress. Only students who have prepaid AND filled out the form will be sent to the photographer to have their picture taken. CLICK HERE if you would like to have your student’s spring picture taken by Excel, please fill out the form above AND prepay online or send payment in the packet. Picture packets went home this week. Prepay today at excelphotographers.com and use the access code: WESTS22. All 8th grade students should dress to impress – pictures for promotion certificates will be taken that day.

Intent to Return: Each year, we ask our 5th grade families and our 8th grade families to complete an Intent to Return form to let us know if their student will be continuing to our Middle School or High School respectively. The forms for 5th and 8th grade have been sent directly to those families, as well as in newsletters. For students in any other grade levels who are not planning to return to Westlake Charter for the 22-23 school year, please email [email protected]

WCHS Athletics Schedule: Come support our WCHS athletics! Attending a sports event counts toward the Path to High School punch card. Any WCS 8th grade students who participate in at least six activities will receive a personalized piece of WCHS merchandise! CLICK  HERE for the March Explorer Athletics Boys Volleyball and Girls Soccer schedule.

High School End of Year Trip Meeting:  We will hold a family informational meeting to share the details of our End of Year Trip.  Please join us on Wednesday March 30th  at 5:30 PM to learn more about this trip!  Additional details will be sent to 9th grade families next week.

K-8 Lost & Found: Our lost and found is overflowing. Now that campus is open to families at arrival and dismissal, we encourage families to stop by the lost and found behind the admin building to look for any of their student’s missing items. All items that are in the Lost and Found will be donated over spring break.

International Festival: Save the date for our annual  International Festival on Saturday, April 30th. The highlight of our International Festival are the Cultural Booths hosted by WCS families. We are in need of booth hosts to make this event a success!

  • Cultural booth hosts may provide a small sampling of native cuisine, cultural artifacts, a children’s activity/game and/or anything else you would like to demonstrate or display. The booth can be as simple or complex as you would like. We would love to have as many cultures represented as possible.
  • CLICK HERE to register to host a booth or send an email to [email protected] for more information.

In case you missed it…

Reporting COVID-19 Positive Tests and Exposure: If your student has tested positive to COVID-19, or has been exposed to someone who tested positive off campus, please CLICK HERE to complete this form and our contact tracing team will follow up.

Walking and Bike to School Volunteers  Needed: We are in need of adult volunteers to join our daily Walking School Bus and scan student cards on campus. Can you walk to school with your student and other Explorers 1-5 mornings a week? Can you scan student cards near the Maybrook gate in the mornings? It is a fantastic way to start the day and volunteer with students. Please email [email protected] to get started.

COVID Symptoms: If your student has any COVID-19 symptoms, please keep them home until they are symptom free for 24 hours. Symptoms include: Fever over 100.4, sore throat, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, muscle/body aches, cough, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell. If your student has any of those symptoms, please keep them home until they are symptom-free for 24 hours and email [email protected] to report their absence.

Papa Murphy’s Fundraiser:  Our next restaurant fundraiser is coming up on Wednesday, April 6th  from 12-8pm at Papa Murphy’s  (2701 Del Paso Road). Order online and type “WAVE” in the notes section or in-person by mentioning WAVE. We will receive 15% back. It’s that easy!

WAVE Board Elections: Help us make the 22-23 school year amazing by joining the WAVE Board. All board positions of President, Vice President of Business Operations, Vice President of Parent Participation, Treasurer and Secretary are coming up for election in April. If you are interested in learning more or finding out how to get involved, please contact Amber Hustead, WAVE President, at [email protected]

Kudos: Spring has arrived and we have so much to look forward to. WAVE is planning events for our community, family members are volunteering on campus again and our community is beginning to reconnect. We will continue to work together to strengthen our community and support our students, staff and families.
