Mrs. Harold-Jones’ class enjoyed their library time with Ms. Polanco this week. They read A Color of His Own by Leo Lionni. It tied in really well with their animal adaptations unit! #JoyfulLearning

Our High School Winter Wonderland Formal was a success!  Thank you to Abby Grimaldi for thinking of every detail that made this event special for our 9th grade students.  Thank you to our Planting a Revolution elective for putting together fancy snacks for the dance. Thank you to everyone who helped with chaperoning, set up and clean up. #WestlakeCharter

We are excited to announce that as we anticipate new guidance from the California Department of Public Health, Westlake is working to begin providing more opportunities for our families to connect with our school community. 9th Grade Families Save the Date:  We will be hosting a virtual 4- year planning event for all 9th grade families on the evening of  March 3rd at 6 PM. This event is the next step in our 9th grade 4 year planning package.  Details for logging into  this event will be sent out to 9th grade families after break.  We are looking for 100% attendance from our 9th grade families. 

High School Shadow Day:  On March 4th Westlake Charter High School will welcome our WCS 8th graders on campus for a shadow day.  8th graders will transport to the high school in small groups for a tour of the high school and a chance for a Q/A with high school students. We are so excited for next year’s 9th grade class on campus!  Permission slips for the Shadow Day will need to be returned by 3/2.  

Virtual K-9th  Parent Teacher Conferences: Parent Teacher Conferences will be held March 7th-11th.  Canyon Creek, our online scheduler, is live for all families NOW!  These conferences will be  virtual.  Please use these links to schedule your parent teacher conference.

Enrichment Sign ups: We are wrapping up a fantastic winter session of enrichment classes and there’s more to come! The spring session begins Monday, March 14. In case you missed it…

Reporting COVID-19 Positive Tests and Exposure: If your student has tested positive to COVID-19, or has been exposed to someone who tested positive off campus, please CLICK HERE to complete this form and our contact tracing team will follow up. 

Walking School Bus-Help Needed: We desperately need adult volunteers to join our daily Walking School Bus. Can you walk to school with your student and other Explorers 1-5 mornings a week? The walk begins at Burberry Park at 8am and adults arrive back to the park by 8:30am. It is a fantastic way to start the day and volunteer with students. Please email [email protected] to get started. 

Weekly Surveillance Testing  After School: It’s not too late to participate in the weekly surveillance testing for students. CLICK HERE to pre-register your student. Testing takes place on Wednesdays – at the high school from 1:00-1:30PM and at the K-8 from 1:30-2:00 PM. Email [email protected] with any questions. 

COVID Symptoms: If your student has any COVID-19 symptoms, please keep them home until they are symptom free for 24 hours. Symptoms include: Fever over 100.4, sore throat, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, muscle/body aches, cough, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell. If your student has any of those symptoms, please keep them home until they are symptom-free for 24 hours and email [email protected] to report their absence. 

Panda Express Fundraiser:  Our next restaurant fundraiser is coming up on Thursday, March 3rd  from 4-9pm at Panda Express (2940 Del Paso Road). Order online using code 333706 or in-person using this FLYER and WAVE will receive 20% back. It’s that easy! Pickup a quick dinner out and raise money for WAVE.

Kudos: Our incredible families made the first middle school dance of the year incredible for our students. Over 30 parents volunteered to set-up, chaperone and clean up the first 6th-8th grade dance of the school year. Thank you families!
