Reopening School: We want to make sure every family had the opportunity to read the Reopening School Update that was sent on Friday, February 26th. Click HERE to read the important update. If you completed the Reopening Survey, you should have received an email last week confirming the choice for your student to return to school or continue in distance learning, as well as confirming the Cohort of your student. If you did not receive that information, please email [email protected].

Level 2: Orientation Week:  Click HERE to access the orientation resources.  Please take time to review these materials with your family this week.  We will be covering these materials during Morning Meeting and Advisory this week.  

School Dismissal Manager: 

With our Return to Campus date quickly approaching, we need families of on-campus students to log into School Dismissal Manager by Wednesday, March 10th. Families will need to take the following actions in order to safely pick up their student on their first day of school: 

  1. Click HERE to log into School Dismissal Manager
  2. Write down your pin number – it will be used EVERY day at dismissal
  3. Update each student’s default dismissal option and any exceptions that you may know about.

BASE: During Level 3: Baseline, our BASE program will be available for students from 8:00-3:00pm on their Distance Learning scheduled days, and from 11:00-3:00pm on their classroom scheduled days. Due to the need to ensure social distancing, families will be asked to pre-register and pre-pay for BASE. During Level 3 – Baseline, BASE will not be a drop-in program. Seasonal Allergies: Our Return to Campus date coincides with an increase of seasonal allergies in Sacramento. Some seasonal allergy symptoms overlap with COVID-19 symptoms shown on page 9 of the Guidebook to Reopening. If your student has seasonal allergies, please reach out to your healthcare provider for documentation that the symptoms are typical of their underlying symptoms. Healthcare documentation is required to return to school after 72 hours without fever and improving symptoms. 

Conference Week: Conference week is March 8th – March 11th. Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place virtually. The online scheduler is available February 8th – March 8th so reserve your meeting time now. Remember, families will log in with their student’s google account to access the conference. During conference week we will use a different bell schedule.

Jibe Pedometer Student Challenge: Jibe is hosting a steps challenge beginning March 22nd. Don’t worry if you don’t have a pedometer, we’ll give you one for free. Please click HERE to sign up to receive a pedometer by March 12th. Spring is a great time to get those steps in and be entered to win a prize!

ASLive Clubs: Afterschool Live Clubs will begin the second session on Monday, March 1st. These virtual clubs will run after school from 2:00PM-2:30PM. Click HERE to sign up or email Aimee Wells at: [email protected] with any questions.

High School Happenings:

The month of March is all about celebrating our 9th grade class!  On March 12th our 8th grade families will be asked to accept or decline their 9th grade spot.  We will fill all open spots from our waitlist and then on March 26th we will celebrate our class formation day from 4-6 PM.  Our 9th graders will participate in a drive through celebration where they will pick up High School merchandise and get to sign our founding class plaque!   They will also get to meet our some members of our high school teaching team!

If you need to pick up a device, headphones, or missed a Distance Learning Kit pick up, please schedule an appointment to pick up your item. Virtual Science Night: Please join us on Wednesday, March 31st from 6-6:30pm for a Virtual Family STEM Night hosted by Sierra Nevada Journeys. International Festival: Each year Westlake Charter School celebrates our cultural diversity at our phenomenal International Festival. Families share food, traditions and information about their culture while taking a trip around the world to experience the cultures of other Explorer families. This virtual event will launch on Sunday, April 25th. Are you interested in sharing recipes, crafts, traditions or information about your culture? This can be a video, picture, recipe, dance or just about anything else. We want to make sure as many cultures as possible are represented! Kudos: Thank you to everyone who supported our Dinner Fundraiser at Chipotle this week. We received $312 back from Chipotle which helps fund community events like Science Night, scheduled for later this month. Please let us know if you have an idea for the next dinner or dessert fundraiser. We love to support our local Natomas restaurants!
