Celebrations

This year's 8th grade spoken word performances were held virtually. Our 8th grade Explorers worked very hard and poured their emotions into their pieces. Some were vulnerable, some were silly, and some carried messages that needed to be heard.

Black History Month kicked off at the beginning of February. We have seen many grade levels incorporating different opportunities to learn, connect, and celebrate the achievements by black Americans and the central role they played in U.S. History.

Announcements

Reopening School:

Thank you families for completing our reopening survey! We have had over 960 surveys completed and just need the last few to close it out!

As we mentioned last week, the COVID-19 case rate has continued to drop in Sacramento County. Many schools and districts are beginning to announce reopening dates which is very exciting. Westlake Charter School will be holding a Special Board Meeting this Thursday, February 25th, to discuss reopening plans. We will communicate our next steps after our meeting.

In preparation for reopening please take a moment to review the Return to School page and videos that were released in November. There may be some changes based on new guidance from the California Department of Public Health, but the core of our reopening plans remain the same.

Please remember that when we are able to return to campus for instruction, school will not look like it did in February of 2020 before school closed. For example, health screening will take place at the gates each morning; during the day students will have activity time with their classroom cohort only. All students and staff will be required to wear masks at all times while on campus, and will be spaced 6 feet apart inside and outside.

If you have not yet completed the return to school survey please Click HERE to complete each of your students.
