Reopening Communications for Families: When we communicated on November 4th, our plan was to reopen in early January, if our partners at Sacramento County Public Health agreed it was safe to move forward. As you may have seen, the Sacramento County COVID-19 cases have increased dramatically since November 4th and our region is currently under a Stay-at-Home Order. As you may have guessed, we will not reopen in early January, as previously anticipated. As NUSD communicated, due to the Governor’s recent Regional Stay-at-Home Orders and Sacramento County being back in the state’s most restrictive colored tier of Purple, we are not able to provide our families with an official start date.
Our staff has continued to solidify teacher and student training for health, safety, logistics, operations, and instruction. This material will be thoroughly covered in a Virtual Orientation so that as soon as we are able to safely return, we will return to campus in Baseline. Until we are able to reopen, we will continue to seek new ways to improve all the academic and social emotional support we are providing and ask that you reach out to us if there is anything we can do for your family.
2021-22 Lottery Application Window Now Open: Our 2021-22 lottery is now open, including our first freshman class at Westlake Charter High School! Current students do not need to fill out an application to continue their enrollment at WCS; however, siblings do need to fill out lottery applications to attend. Spread the word and encourage friends and family to visit JoinWestlake.com to apply today.
Spirit Day – Pajama Day: This Thursday, December 17th is Pajama Day! We are challenging our Explorer staff and Students to wear their favorite school appropriate pajamas and post a picture using the hashtag #WCSspiritfriday on the WAVE Facebook group page and all of your social media platforms!

High School Happenings:
We are entering the 3rd week of our Westlake Charter School lottery! This is the first lottery in the history of Westlake Charter School to include 9th grade! You may be wondering how you should celebrate this momentous occasion. The best thing you can do is spread the word! Last week we shared ideas on how you can spread the word:
- Text a friend
- Like and share the Westlake Charter School Social Media page
If you have done one of these things or spread the word in another innovative way. Email email@example.com and tell us how you have spread the word about our 9th-grade lottery and you will receive a piece of WCHS SWAG! We can’t wait to see the ways that our community is getting involved in spreading the word.
