Our Annual Public Random Lottery was this Monday. We had over 1300 applications for the 2020-2021 school year, which is 300 more than last year! We are so excited to welcome all of the new and returning families. #WestlakeCharter

Our 4th graders went back in time today for Pioneer Day! They hand- made ice cream and butter, created art out of tin, made corn-husk dolls, learned about blacksmithing, participated in partner dances and more! #JoyfulLearning

Trimester 2 Parent Survey: The Parent Survey is taken at the end of each trimester. Click HERE to answer six questions to rate your family’s experience at Westlake Charter School during the 2019-20 school year. Deadline March 16th at 4:00 PM

Advisory Fishbowl Parent Sign Up: Please join us as our 6th-8th grade students hold a discussion. On March 16th from 8:15 AM – 8:57 AM, you will join a small group of 6th-8th grade students and a staff member and engage in a guided conversation. Click HERE to sign up to be a part of this event.

Enrichment Sign Ups: Enrichment sign-ups for our Spring session are live! Some classes begin as early as March 16th! So sign up now for our last session that will be offered this school year. Click HERE for the enrichment class offerings. The link at the top of the document will take you to the sign-up form. Middle School Spring Athletics Sign-ups are Starting Now: It’s time for the Spring Explorer Athletics season! The program is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. No prior experience is necessary to play, just a positive attitude and a growth mindset. Teams will meet twice a week throughout the season for practices and games. Practice days are consistent, but game days vary due to scheduling. Practices and games last from 3:25 – 4:15 every day except Wednesdays.

  • Middle school students wanting to participate in Futsal will need to attend the clinics the first week back after spring break. Co-ed Skills clinics will be Monday and Tuesday, March 30th and 31st. Regular practice schedule begins Thursday, April 2nd, and games begin Thursday, April 23rd.

Call for Coaches: We are currently looking for Coaches to help with Co-ed Futsal! Also we need adult chaperones to help with co-ed Kickball on Wednesdays. Whole School Morning Meeting: Families are welcome to join us for our end of trimester Whole School Morning Meeting! At the Whole School Morning Meeting, we celebrate students and build community in the same way we do in class each day.

FREE Natomas 5K: Mark your calendar, April 25, 2020 for the Natomas 5K “Run for Their Future,”. All Westlake students AND staff will be sponsored by the The Inderkum family! This fun-for-all ages event will include vendors, entertainment, raffles, food, and so much more! Proceeds will be used by the Natomas Schools Foundation for college scholarships or computer grants to help students within Natomas Unified School District boundaries.

CAASPP Testing: Westlake Charter School’s 2020 CAASPP testing window is April 27th-May 29, 2020. Click HERE for our 2020 CAASPP Parent Notification Letter for information about CAASPP testing. School Supplies and Field Lesson Donations: Great News Explorer families! Westlake Charter has already reached 82% of our School Supplies goal and 62% of our field lessons goal! Note: When you make a monthly donation, our grade level campaigns are credited for the entire year in advance on our goal thermometer! Volunteer Hours Contest: It is time to log all of your hard earned volunteer hours for the 19/20 school year. The grade level with the most hours logged during the month of March will win a popsicle party or free dress for the entire grade. It doesn’t matter when the volunteer time occurred, just that you log it now. Do not forget to log hours for meetings attended, field lessons, at home prep work, coffee talks, WAVE meetings and so much more! Click HERE to log all hours at once in just a couple of minutes.

15th Annual International Festival: The International Festival is one of the most anticipated events of the year and it is quickly approaching on Saturday, April 4th from 3-6pm. Are you interested in hosting a cultural booth to share food, crafts or activities of your heritage? The event cannot happen without hosts to represent cultures from all around the world!
