Meet the Teacher: We are excited to welcome our families to campus for Meet the Teacher on Tuesday, August 6th from 12 – 2PM. During this time, students will be able to meet their new teacher and see their new classroom. Parents will receive information regarding arrival and dismissal, including their Car Line Pick Up Placards

School Supplies: Westlake Charter School provides all of the supplies needed for students to learn throughout the day. The only supplies your student will need you to provide is an empty backpack, an optional lunch box, and an optional water bottle. We purchase all pencils, paper, scissors, crayons, paint, etc. for students to use in class. We do ask families to donate $25 to offset the cost of the school supplies. Click HERE to make your school supply and field lesson donation.

7th Grade TDAP: 7th grade families – if you haven’t already turned in your proof of the TDAP immunization, please email it to [email protected] or turn it into the front office at Meet the Teacher. As a reminder, 7th grade students will not be able to attend school without this immunization.

Welcome to the Westlake Association of Volunteer Explorers (WAVE)! WAVE is the parent group of Westlake Charter School and every family is a member. There are no dues or applications to fill out. We work together with the school to plan community building events, fundraise, accomplish goals and, most importantly, support our students. WAVE encourages families to volunteer at least 30 hours a year, whether it is in the classroom, at a festival, on a field trip or another way. We truly are better together!

Please be sure to check back here every week for important announcements, event signups, volunteer opportunities and more.

WAVE Calendar of Events: WAVE has a full calendar of events planned for the upcoming school year and we are excited to share it with you. Please Click HERE to access the full schedule of events, meetings, coffee talks and more. Many events are still in need of leads and volunteers so please contact Jess Wilson, Volunteer Coordinator, at [email protected] for more information or to start getting involved today. These incredible events cannot happen without your support!

Facebook Parents Group: Did you know that WAVE has a Facebook page specifically for families to connect and communicate regarding school and community events? If you haven’t already, please be sure to join the group by Click HERE. Just a reminder, the page is not for communicating with WCS Administration or staff.

Walking School Bus: Our incredible Walking School Bus is back and we hope you can help us continue to grow the program. Westlake is lucky enough to have a daily Walking School Bus in the morning from Burberry Park and back in the afternoon. In the morning we meet at 7:50 and begin walking promptly at 8. In the afternoon students (grades 1-8 only) meet by the cafeteria and arrive back to Burberry Park by 3:40pm.

This program is a great way to connect with other families, get fresh air, avoid the school traffic and get some exercise. Parents/guardians are welcome to walk with the group or drop off/pick up.

We need volunteers to make this program fun and safe for our students. Please reach out to Amber Hustead at [email protected] to find out how you can get involved. Thank you families!

Spirit Store: Our brand new Spirit Store opens this week so be on the lookout for a flyer in your student’s backpack, samples at Meet the Teacher and Back to School Night and a link in next week’s newsletter. There are some new items that your family is going to love!
