School Supplies and Field Lesson Donations Campaigns: Families, Westlake Charter School provides all supplies needed for students to learn throughout the day. The only supplies your student will need you to provide is an empty backpack, an optional lunch box, and an optional water bottle. We purchase all pencils, paper, scissors, crayons, paint, etc. for students to use in class. We do ask families to donate $25 to offset the cost of the school supplies.  This year we will be launching our School Supplies and Field Lesson donations campaigns on a new website. We will be launching this website next week.  Many families have asked where they can make their donation, we appreciate your patience while we put the finishing touches on our new site. Look for a link to our new donations site next week!

Free and Reduced Meal Application: Each year, we ask families to complete a Free and Reduced Price School Meals (FRPSM) application. Students received the application, as well as a cover letter in their backpacks on Friday. We need every student to return the letter with a parent signature and the appropriate check-box selected by Friday, August 17th. Even if you choose not to complete the FRPSM application, we still need a letter back for each student so that we can ensure every family had the opportunity to complete the application.

Back to School Night: Save the date for Back to School Night, Wednesday, August 22nd.

Back to School BBQ: Thank you to all of the families who came out to the Back to School BBQ. It was wonderful to see so many new and returning families catching up and getting to know each other. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, offered help, brought a dish to share and helped clean up. One of the best things about the Westlake community is the willingness to step in and help wherever it is needed. We are always better together!

Volunteer Opportunities: WAVE is looking for volunteers in many areas including: Spirit Store, Box Tops, Fireworks Booth, Olympic Triathlon, My Princess & Me Dance, Fall Festival, International Festival and more. Please contact Alma Arrieta, VP of Parent Participation, at [email protected] for more information or to get involved today!

Spirit Store: The Westlake Charter Spirit Store is open! We have a wide variety of items available including t-shirts, polos, outerwear and bags. Click HERE to browse our selection of WCS gear and place your order today. The deadline to submit an order is August 20th at noon and items are scheduled to arrive in mid-September. Don’t delay, the next order won’t be made until Winter 2019.

Arden Fair School Cents: Next Saturday, August 18th, head over to Arden Fair Mall’s center court (by the big elevator and Nordstrom) between 10-11am to “kick it” with the Sacramento Republic FC. Be sure to check in under Westlake Charter School at the table in order for WCS to earn 1,000 points per student in the School Cents competition! Thousands of dollars are awarded each year to the participating schools based on points earned during the school year.

WCS also receives points for purchases at Arden Fair Mall! Simply write “VOID” on your receipt, visit marketingguru.com/receipts, select SCHOOL CENTS and complete the form. You may also place your receipts in an envelope and drop them in the SCHOOL CENTS box located in the corridor next to Starbucks at Arden Fair.

In the months of August and September, all receipts submitted online will be awarded triple points. Additionally, in August, these stores will receive triple points: Crazy 8’s, Godiva Chocolatier, Lego, Morphe, and Mr. Pops.

WAVE Calendar of Events: WAVE has a full calendar of events planned for the upcoming school year and we are excited to share it with you.
