We were excited to welcome A Touch of Understanding back to campus for our 6th grade students to build awareness of different disabilities. They had engaging questions and grew in their empathy for others.

Memorial Day: There will be no school on Monday, May 28th in observance of Memorial Day.  BASE will be closed as well.

Parent Survey: The Parent Survey is taken at the end of each trimester. Click HERE to to answer six questions to rate your family’s experience at Westlake Charter School during the 2017-18 school year.

6th Grade Intro Night: We are excited to welcome all incoming 6th graders to 6th Grade Intro Night on Wednesday, May 30th starting at 6:00 PM. This event is for parents and students. We will start in the cafeteria with a middle school overview, students will find out which advisory class they will be in, then families will break out to the advisory classrooms to get to know their teacher and advisory classmates. Volunteer Appreciation BBQ: We are inviting all volunteers to a BBQ on Thursday, June 7th from 5:30-6:30 PM. Take a break from making dinner, and let our admin team BBQ for your family. So many families met their goal of 30 volunteer hours, and demonstrated what is possible when school and community collaborate. End of Year Assemblies: We are inviting all of our families to join us for our end of year assemblies on Tuesday, June 12th.Please see grade level details below:

  • 8:45-9:30 AM – Kindergarten to 2nd Grade: Responsive classroom – see first hand the impact morning meetings have had on our students this year.
  • 9:45-10:30 AM – 3rd-5th Grade: Responsive classroom – see first hand the impact morning meetings have had on our students this year.
  • 2:40-3:10 PM – 6th – 7th Grade: Academic awards

Field Day Dismissal: Our K-8 Field Day will be Wednesday, June 13th. All grades will dismiss at noon that day.  Click HERE to volunteer for Field Day.

8th Grade Promotion: 8th grade students should  arrive at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 13th to practice promotion – dismiss at 12:00 PM. Promotion will be in the gym at 4:00 PM.

Yearbook Orders: Click HERE to order your 2017 – 18 yearbook on the supply donation page. The cost is $20. We have a limited quantity so don’t delay in placing your order – orders will only be filled while supplies last. Yearbooks will be delivered in June.

Open House: What an amazing evening with our entire WCS community. The genius hour projects, classrooms, food trucks and feelings of accomplishment filled this campus with joy and inspiration. Thank you to all of the WCS staff for making our first Open House with all K-8 students such an enormous success.

Walking School Bus: This program has truly flourished this year with an outstanding team of volunteers. Not only did we successfully walk into school 5 days a week but we then walked out of school 5 days a week. Incredible! We cannot thank the dedicated Walking School Bus team enough.

Fireworks Booth: The WAVE Fireworks Booth is back again this year and we need your help. Be on the lookout for a signup to volunteer for a shift before school gets out. We cannot do this without you families! Thank you!

2018/19 WAVE Calendar Input: We are excited to begin working on the event calendar for next year and would love your input. Please contact Amber Hustead at [email protected] to let us know what event you enjoyed, something that you would change or a new idea entirely. We are also on the hunt for event/activity leads for next year. Please send an email to Amber with questions or to sign up to lead your favorite event or committee. We still need help with the School Cents program, the fireworks booth, Olympic Triathlon and more.

Logging Volunteer Hours: WCS parents have volunteered thousands of hours this school year supporting our students and teachers. Don’t forget to log your hours using our quick and easy to use volunteer form. There are a few more volunteer opportunities coming up for families to get involved including 4th grade Pioneer Day, in the classroom and Field Day!
