Our first field field lesson of the year was a huge success! Our first graders visited Sutters Fort and experienced life long ago! We are looking forward to many more field lessons this year!

Announcements

Pedestrian Safety Recap: Thank you, families, for taking the time to talk with your students about our Pedestrian Safety Pledge. We covered these topics every day at school and we hope you are using these as dinner table conversations as well to help keep all our students safe.

October Break: There will be no school, and we will be closing our office from Monday, October 9 through Friday, October 13th for Fall Break. We typically try to keep some office hours during breaks; however, this team worked hard all summer to open this new campus and we are asking everyone to take the week off. BASE will be open from 7am to 6pm during Fall Break.

Walktober, Walk Across America Challenge: Can our school “walk across America” in October?  Walk to school as many times as you can during October to participate in the Walktober, Walk to School Challenge! Students use their Trip Scanner Cards to scan-in on campus when they walk to school.  Their miles will be combined to track how far we can get as a school group.  The class with the highest percentage of students participating will win a class prize. Click HERE to see the informational flyer and encourage your family to participate.

Walk to School Day Event – Tuesday, October 17th, before school: Families, come out and join us for the Walk to School Day event! Participate by either walking from home, parking and walking from at least 3 blocks away, or one of the neighborhood parks, or joining the Walking School Bus group. The Walking School Bus group meets at Burberry Park on the corner of Club Center Dr. and Northborough Dr.  The group walks every day, meeting at 7:50am and leaving at 8:00am. All participants will enjoy a free breakfast on campus and can have fun at the DJ dance party! Come early!

Book Fair: Love books? Good News! The Scholastic Book Fair is almost here! Help us reach our goal of 170,640 reading minutes so we can break our past record. We will be open 10/17-10/27 in the “NEW” Library Media Center. Pre-Orders will start on 10/9 and will be delivered during the Book Fair. If you would like to volunteer click HERE for the Book Fair homepage and sign-up! You can decorate, set up, help kids select books, serve refreshments, or help pack up. There are lots of ways to participate. Can’t wait to see you there!

WAVE Playdate: Please join us at Valley Oak Park this Tuesday, October 3rd from 2:45-4pm to play and get to know other families. We hope to see you there!

WAVE Board Meeting: This Thursday, October 5th, please join us for our WAVE Board meeting. We’ll be meeting in Room G106, Mrs. Haley’s classroom, at 6:30pm. Room G106 is located right next to the front gate. You’ll have an opportunity to meet the WAVE board, hear from our wonderful WCS Admin team and learn about ways to get involved this school year. We have a lot of exciting activities planned and cannot do it without your help and support.

Homework Zone: The North Natomas Library offers FREE homework help every Wednesday from 3:30-5:30pm for students in grades K-12. No registration is required!

Fall Festival: Our 7th Annual Fall Festival is coming up on Saturday, October 21st! We’re excited to announce several new additions to this year’s Fall Festival. Not only will it be on our amazing new campus, we will also have our first ever haunted house and some new carnival style games! Don’t forget to sign up to donate to your child’s classroom silent auction basket, to the treat walk, needed supplies and to volunteer at a booth! Click HERE for more details or email [email protected] for additional information. This event can’t happen without all your support so please check out all the opportunities you can to get involved!
