Celebrations

We would like to thank our volunteers for sharing their energy and time. The success of our campus is due in large part to our volunteers! A big thank you to Ximena’s mom, and Payton’s Grandma for being so committed and running the crosswalks with such efficiency. Thank you to all the volunteers for their time!

Thank you to all the families that attended our first Coffee Talk of the year! We had a great conversation about our After School Live Clubs Program, about building community on campus and about all of the incredible opportunities we have to collaborate this year on our new campus!

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: You are cordially invited to the Westlake Charter School Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, Wednesday, September 6, at 4PM. This community event will be held at the flagpole. Distinguished speakers include NUSD Superintendent Chris Evans, District One Council member Angelique Ashby and our Westlake Charter Board President Hope Gawlick.

Labor Day – No School: Westlake Charter will be closed Monday, September 4th to observe the Labor Day holiday. BASE will also be closed on this day.

After School LIVE: After-School Live is expanding joyful learning opportunities for our Explorers, and we need volunteers to lead an after-school club. Volunteers will earn all their hours for the year in one session! If you’d like to lead a club, please fill out this form, or email [email protected] for more information.

All Call Contact – Please click HERE if you would like to update which phone(s) or email(s) receive the Sunday All Call message.

IW Drop and Pickup (2)

Just a reminder of our commitment to safety and #Stewardship in our new neighborhood:

  1. Log into School Dismissal Manager: Inform the school each day how you want your student to be dismissed.
  2. No stopping to drop off or pick up in the middle of the street: If you would like to stay in your car, please come to the parking lot or use our local parks to drop off or pick up.
  3. Please park appropriately in Green Parking zones: For example, we are hearing from our neighbors that driveways are being blocked – let’s be good stewards of our community.

WAVE Board Meeting: This Thursday, September 7th, please join us for our first WAVE Board meeting of the year. We’ll be meeting in Room G106, Mrs. Haley’s classroom, at 6:30pm. Room G106 is located right next to the front gate. You’ll have an opportunity to meet the WAVE board, hear from our wonderful WCS Admin team and learn about ways to get involved this school year. We have a lot of exciting activities planned and cannot do it without your help and support.

Arden Fair School Cents: Next Saturday, September 9th, head on over to Arden Fair Mall’s center court (by the big elevator and Nordstrom) between 10-11am for a free Kids Club event featuring Minute to Win It games. Be sure to check in under Westlake Charter School at the table in order for WCS to earn 1,000 points per student in the School Cents competition! Thousands of dollars are awarded each year to the participating schools based on points earned during the school year. Please Click HERE for details on turning in your receipts both online and in person. If you are interested in co-chairing this program please contact Amber Hustead, WAVE President, at [email protected].

Fall Festival: It’s not too early to “Save the Date” for this year’s Westlake Charter Fall Festival! Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, October 22st from 2-6pm. Please contact [email protected] to find out how you can help!

Facebook Parents Group: Did you know that WAVE has a Facebook page specifically for families to connect and communicate regarding school and community events? If you haven’t already, please be sure to join the group by clicking HERE. Just a reminder, the page is not for communicating with WCS Administration or staff.

Logging Volunteer Hours: We listened to your feedback and created an easy, one click way to log parent volunteer hours! You should have received the instruction sheet with your Family Name which will be used to log and track your hours. It is that simple. Please contact [email protected] with any questions or changes. Please Click HERE to visit the new form to log your hours!
