Kindergarten students got elbow deep into some big orange pumpkins.  Who knew that pumpkins could provide a math question, “how tall is the pumpkin?” a science experience “let’s investigate the seeds.” and a writing piece “describe your pumpkin”.

No School Friday, November 11, 2016: Reminder that there is No School on Friday, November 11th  for Veterans Day. This is also one of few BASE closure dates.

Olympic Triathlon: Our WAVE parent team is hosting our annual Olympic Triathlon THIS Thursday, November 10th on both campuses. Please click HERE to volunteer. This is an amazing day to be a part of, you won’t want to miss out!

Conference week: All grades will have early dismissal Monday, November 14th through Friday, November 18th for Parent/Teacher Conference week. Westlake Charter believes that partnering with parents is key to student success. If you haven’t already, please click HERE to schedule your conference. Click HERE to see our annual calendar so you can plan ahead for minimum days and school closures.

Holidays Around the World: This is a wonderful event for our entire community. Every grade level learns about different holidays celebrated in the fall and winter months from countries and cultures around the world.  We would love to invite our families to be a part of this event this year.  If you have a holiday that you would like share with one of our Westlake Classes, please click here and complete the form.  A member of the Holidays Around the World team will be in touch with you towards the end of November.

Conferences: Conferences will be held the week of November 14th-18th. This year, students in 6th-8th grade will meet with their advisory teacher during conferences. We are aiming for 100% participation during conferences. Please sign up for your conference time by going to Canyon Creek, our online scheduler by clicking this link or going directly to our school website. If you would like to meet with any other teacher besides your advisory teacher, please email your advisory teacher directly and they will work with you to coordinate with your child’s other teacher to attend part of your conference. You should plan to attend the conference with your student. A portion of the conference will be led by your student. They will be preparing for the student-led part of their conference during advisory/homeroom classes. We look forward to meeting with all families to celebrate your student’s growth this trimester.

Art position: We would like to welcome our new art teacher Mrs.Mozhdeh Beheshti!  We are so excited to have her join our amazing specialty team.  Mrs. Beheshti is an incredible artist and teacher. She has taught for over a decade in various capacities from Art to English courses. Make sure to introduce yourself to her as you see her around campus!

End of the Trimester: The last day of this trimester is Thursday, November 10th. At the end of the trimester students will wrap up with their current units of study and head into new adventures in their learning. As a celebration of our learning we will be celebrating academic success on Friday, November 18th at 9:15am for 6-8th grade and 10:00am for 5th grade.  

Electives: 6-8th grade students will wrap up their current electives on November 10th and start new electives after Thanksgiving break on Monday, November 28th.
