Announcements

For the Whole School:

CAASPP Results
CLICK HERE – We are anxiously awaiting news from the California Department of Education about student performance results from the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). Click the link for a letter outlining how the results will be delivered at Westlake Charter.

Connect Ed Messages
We recognize that there are families who sometimes do, and sometimes do not, receive our weekly messages. We are working with the vendor and our district partners to get to the bottom of these irregularities. Please continue to click the link in our weekly message or in the blue box titled “Update Connect Ed” at the bottom of our website. Thank you for your assistance while we adjust to our new student information system.

Follow Up from Westlake
If you have any concerns regarding symptoms of whooping cough in your own children, please consult your pediatrician. If there are any further developments that merit communication on this matter, we will continue using Connect Ed email messages to keep our families informed. Furthermore, if you have any questions or concerns that the school can help you with, please contact our administrative team directly by emailing [email protected].

Upcoming Parent Learning Opportunities
Westlake Charter School has two fantastic opportunities for parents to connect with WCS in the coming weeks. Two of these parent connection opportunities unfortunately fell on the same date, so we are changing the date of our Parents Google in Education Night. The new night for our Parent Google in Education Night is September 9th.  We hope you can join us for Parent Google in Education Night on September 9th, and La Cucina Matematica on September 8th.

Emergency Card Updates
All students will be bringing home an emergency card next week that has been exported from our student information system. We would like each family to make any necessary changes to these emergency cards, sign them, and send them back to your student’s teacher. If there are no corrections to be made, please sign the emergency card and send it back.

For Del Paso:

Parking Lot
Families, we have heard from you on [email protected] with your concerns on the parking lot.  We are committed to working together to create a solution. This week we will have parent volunteers and staff who will spend the entire week counting cars, recording start and end times, and helping our team to get a clear picture of areas where we can improve. In the coming weeks, we will be crafting a solution based on what we have learned. Keep your eye on our Westlake Weekly messages for opportunities to get involved.

Math Monday:
CLICK HERE – Math Monday is making its return to Del Paso’s Morning Line Up.  Please click the link to the participate. We have also placed the link on the right side of the WCS page of our website.

For Pebblewood:

Grades
In the past we used Engrade in grades 4-8 to record grades and to produce report cards.  We have now switched over to Infinite Campus to replace Engrade for grade recording and report cards. Our staff has been training our teachers on the gradebook portion of Infinite Campus. We will be opening the parent portal in the coming weeks where you can view your child’s current grades, much like you did with Engrade.  In the meantime, please check in with your student as they are frequently bringing home graded work.  In addition, please do not hesitate to reach out to any of your child’s teachers with questions or concerns.
